Nikola announced Wednesday it sold 88 hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks in the third quarter of the year, up 22 percent from the 72 units registered between April and June.
The deliveries were in line with Nikola’s guidance of selling between 80 and 100 fuel cell trucks in the third quarter.
As the company faced issues with its battery electric trucks in August last year, Nikola only delivered 3 trucks in the third quarter of 2023.

Last year, the manufacturer was forced to recall all of its 209 battery-electric trucks following a fire caused by a coolant leak in a truck’s battery pack.
For the first three quarters of the year, Nikola sold 200 hydrogen fuel cell trucks, and 235 total since the truck went on sale in late 2023.
“This is a record sales quarter for Nikola, with 88 hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks wholesaled to our dealers for end customers, as well as the addition of a first-ever U.S. dealer-based HYLA modular refueling station,” Nikola CEO Steve Girsky stated.
“Despite overall market headwinds, Nikola remains focused on our mission to pioneer solutions for a zero-emission world, and we’re doing it one truck at a time,” he added.
Earlier this week, Talon Logistics announced on LinkedIn it acquired two new zero-emission trucks to continue electrifying its fleet.
Additionally, last week, the giant supply chain solutions provider JB Hunt announced it added 20 Nikola Tre fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) to its fleet.
In July, as the company continued expanding its infrastructure across the U.S. and Canada, Nikola’s station located in California achieved a record day by refueling 28 trucks and dispensing over 850 kg of hydrogen.
