The hydrogen and battery-electric truck manufacturer Nikola published on Friday its second quarter earnings results reporting a revenue of $31.319 million and a net loss of $133.67 million.
Nikola registered an adjusted EBITDA of 109.396 million while gross margin slightly improved year on year from 180% to 175%.
The Arizona-based company sold 72 units in the second quarter, bringing its total sales for the first half of the year to 112 units.

Regarding the battery electric trucks (BEVs), the company said it “continued to make progress returning BEVs to the dealer network and end fleet users” adding that it remains “on track to complete the recall program” by the year end.
“In the last three quarters of serial production, we have demonstrated that Nikola is the offtake. We are the catalyst to disrupt Class 8 trucking to make zero-emission a reality,” Nikola’s CEO Steve Girsky said in a statement.
“We are the only OEM with Class 8 FCEVs commercially available in North America today. Our trucks are put to the test every day by end fleet users, hauling freight and delivering to their customers. Q2 is an example of how we’re approaching the intersection of mission and reality and how Nikola is out front, charting the course,” the CEO added.
Never Miss an Update on Nikola
The Vancouver-based firm HTEC announced on Thursday that Nikola trucks have passed its vehicle acceptance tests and will now integrate the Pilot Trucks fleet in Canada.
On the last day of July, Nikola opened the first commercial hydrogen refueling station in Ontario, Canada. The station was inaugurated together with IT industries, the company’s first dealer partner in the country.
Around 20 trucks from Nikola were recently seen at the headquarters of J.B. Hunt, one of the largest supply chain solution providers in North America.
The company is rumoured to be buying additional Nikola trucks following the order of 13 units announced one year ago.
In March, the company inaugurated its first HYLA high-pressure refueling station in Southern California. The Nikola followed up with the opening of a second station in the region two months later.
In July, as the company continues expanding its infrastructure across U.S. and Canada, Nikola’s station located in California achieved a record day by refuelling 28 trucks and dispensing over 850 kg of hydrogen.
