Mobileye has started in-traffic testing for its fully autonomous no-driver system, L4, in Germany. The shares of the Nasdaq-listed maker of autonomous driving technology are losing 35 percent year to date.

Mobileye Drive will also undergo testing and validation in the Croatian capital Zagreb in partnership with Project 3 Mobility besides the tests done in Munich and Austin with the Volkswagen Group.

The company is now partnering with the German state-owned public transport service provider Deutsche Bahn (DB) providing the Mobileye Drive™ platform on six on-demand shuttles, as part of the KIRA project.

Mobileye Drive recently secured Germany’s “national type approval for motor vehicles with a fully automated driving function” (AFGBV), setting a standardized regulatory framework for AV testing.

Thanks to the platform’s versatility, the company has recently collaborated with Volkswagen on the ID Buzz and interest from European local governments seeking to address urban challenges like parking congestion, pollution, and inadequate public transportation.

Amid the announcement, the company shared two pictures using a first-generation Nio ES8, the first production model launched by the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer back in 2018. The Nio models have been used by the Israel AD company over the last few years following a collaboration between the two companies announced in 2019.
