Lucid Motors registered 12 vehicles across its four European markets in February, as the company has yet to announce the commencement of Gravity deliveries on the Old Continent.
The figures mark a 33% decrease from January’s 18 units, and a 40% drop from the 20 Air sedans sold a year ago.
February registration data showed that demand for the Air sedan remained minimal across these four markets, ahead of its planned expansion into eight additional markets this year.
The company has, on the other hand, registered several Gravity units in these markets last month.
Vehicle registrations differ from customer deliveries, as they include test drive/ showroom units and press cars.
Orders for the premium brand’s second model opened last September at the IAA Auto Show in Munich.
At the event, the management said that the first deliveries would take place in January; however, as of March 5, the company had not announced any Gravity deliveries in any of its four markets in Europe.
Germany
Lucid registered seven vehicles in Germany last month, a four-unit decrease from the 11 cars listed in January.
Data published by the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) on Thursday showed a decline of two units from the nine Lucid Airs sold exactly a year ago.
According to the data platform EU-EVs, January registrations included six Air sedans and five Gravity SUVs.
As of Thursday morning, the platform had not yet released a model-by-model breakdown for February.
Germany was Lucid’s second European market after Norway.
The company opened its first German studio in Munich in late 2022, followed by locations in Düsseldorf and Frankfurt.
There, the EV maker is preparing to shift from a direct sales model to a hybrid approach that will include local dealer partnerships in Germany and other existing markets.
The company’s interim CEO Marc Winterhoff announced in the latest earnings call that it has signed the first agreement with an European dealer agent, without disclosing what company it was.
EV exclusively learned that the deal was signed with German dealer group Wackenhut, according to two people familiar with the matter.
The mobility group represents brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG, Aston Martin, Smart, and Škoda.
Switzerland
In Switzerland, Lucid registered three vehicles in February, a two-unit decline from January and a seven-unit drop from a year ago.
All these units were Gravity SUVs, although it is unclear whether they represented customer deliveries.
Last week, an employee of the brand in Switzerland wrote on LinkedIn that “the Lucid Gravity has officially landed,” as “this month marks the start of Lucid Gravity deliveries, and the first vehicles are now making their way onto Swiss roads.”
In January, Lucid registered three Gravity SUVs and two Air sedans — up from zero a year ago, according to EU-EVs.
Lucid opened its first retail location in Switzerland in November 2022 in Geneva, making it one of the company’s earliest European markets.
Netherlands
The Netherlands recorded just two vehicles in the Netherlands last month.
The brand’s year-to-date total stands at three registrations — all Gravity units — as the Air sedan that launched the brand in the Dutch market in late 2022 has gone unsold since December.
Lucid established its European headquarters in the Netherlands in 2021 as it prepared to enter the continent.
The company opened its first European service, delivery, and sales center in the country in the final weeks of 2022.
Lucid registered 53 vehicles in the Netherlands in 2025, a slight increase from 47 units in 2024.
Norway
Lucid has registered just two vehicles in Norway over the past six months, according to data from car registration platforms EU-EVs and Elbilstatistikk.
The company recorded zero registrations in February, even as the market rebounded from its January low (following the end of EV incentives by December 31).
The brand sold one Air sedan in January, following four months without any registrations of the model.
Lucid entered the Norwegian market in early 2023 with a showroom in Oslo, making Norway its first European market.
The company has registered a total of 33 vehicles in the country since launch, according to data from Elbilstatistikk, of which four were parallel imports.
Demand in Europe
Lucid reported its fourth-quarter earnings results last week.
During the earnings call following the report, Morgan Stanley investor Andrew Percoco asked about the company’s expectations for European growth.
Winterhoff pointed to the mid-size platform launch, which will represent further growth than the current models available.
“The vehicles that we have right now, with the Air and the Gravity, they’re still actually on the large side,” the interim CEO stated. “Therefore, there’s not a tremendous growth that we’re attributing to that region, which will change with the midsize.”
He attributed the “vast majority of the growth of Chinese OEMs in Europe” to low-cost vehicles, noting that “when you look at the brands that are selling more higher-priced vehicles, they’re actually not doing very well at all.”
“And even, obviously, big players like BYD are, you’re seeing some kind of slowdown in Europe in their expansion in recent weeks and months,” Winterhoff added.
Besides its four main markets, Lucid recently announced it will officially launch in Belgium “this Summer.”
Denmark will follow later this year alongside France and five other markets, as the company plans to expand into eight additional European countries in 2026.
The UK, Italy, and Spain are also among the markets Lucid is preparing to enter.
