Alexander Lutz, Lucid Motors’ managing director for Europe, has left the company a year after joining, marking the ninth senior executive departure from the U.S. electric vehicle (EV) maker in the past 14 months, EV learned on Thursday.

Lutz, who previously led Polestar’s operations in Italy, joined Lucid in December 2023 and was based at the company’s European headquarters in Amsterdam. His departure comes two weeks after an interview with German automotive outlet Auto Motor und Sport in which he revealed Lucid’s timeline for the region, including a Q1 2025 launch of the ultra-luxury Sapphire variant, the midsized model release in Europe in 2027 with the Gravity SUV arriving the region in between.

The role will be filled by Lawrence Hamilton, who has spent the past two and a half years leading Hyundai’s Genesis brand in Europe.

Lucid, led by CEO Peter Rawlinson, has been seeing significant changes at the executive level. Since October 2023, the company has seen the exit of 9 executives including two C-level executives, a senior vice president, five vice presidents, and now its head of European operations. Last month, Vice President of Marketing and Communications Andrea Soriani left to rejoin Maserati as General Manager for North America.

In Germany, Lucid registered 116 vehicles in November, mainly driven by a rental fleet deal with Sixt announced in October. Year-to-date, its German registrations stand at 372 vehicles, up 304.3% from the same period in 2023.

In the Netherlands, where the company has its European headquarters, Lucid has registered 42 vehicles so far this year (up 68% year over year), including just two in November — as much as in October.

The EV maker recorded its highest-ever U.S. sales last month, delivering an estimated 712 vehicles, data from Motor Intelligence released on Tuesday showed. Sales increased 45% year-on-year within the company’s core market, alongside a 6.3% rise compared to October, marking the second straight month of growth.
