Lucid VPs to Host Design, Tech Talks at IAA as Gravity Makes European Debut

Lucid Motors will host design and tech talks at its Munich showroom during next month’s IAA Mobility show in Germany, where the US electric vehicle maker is preparing to make the European debut of its Gravity model.

Derek Jenkins, senior vice president of design and brand, and Eric Bach, senior vice president of product and chief engineer, will host the talks on September 10 and 11 at Lucid’s Munich studio.

In an email sent on Tuesday, the Saudi-backed brand said the sessions will cover the development of the Gravity from “the first sketch to the final form” and how its design principles “meet uncompromising engineering.”

The Gravity, Lucid’s second model after the Air sedan, will be displayed at the IAA alongside the Air Grand Touring and the high-performance Air Sapphire.

The SUV began small-scale production in December and is expected to outsell the Air in the second half of 2025 as output ramps up — according to the EV maker.

Lucid has not disclosed pricing or confirmed when European orders will open.

The company’s Munich showroom, opened in 2022 as its first retail location in Europe, will also host wine-tasting events and a tea salon during the show week.

The company operates showrooms in eight cities, including Frankfurt, Hamburg and Oslo, and plans to open a Zurich location this autumn.

It is targeting entry into the UK, France, Italy and Spain within 18 months, with Belgium and Denmark also on its roadmap.

Lucid has faced challenges scaling the Gravity. Interim chief executive Marc Winterhoff told customers earlier this month that while most configurations are now in production, some remain constrained by supplier shortages.

Below is the translation of Lucid‘s email sent on Tuesday:

“If you are planning to visit us at IAA Mobility 2025, we warmly invite you to also stop by the Lucid Studio at Odeonsplatz. Just a few steps away from our booth, a week full of special experiences awaits you.

On Wednesday and Thursday, September 10 and 11, Derek Jenkins, Senior Vice President Design & Brand, and Eric Bach, Senior Vice President Product & Chief Engineer, will give exclusive Design and Tech Talks.

Together they will tell the story behind the Lucid Gravity – from the first sketch to the final form – and show how design principles meet uncompromising engineering.

On Friday and Saturday, September 12 and 13, Master of Wine Konstantin Baum will take you to our home in California and invite you to a curated tasting of exceptional West Coast wines.

On Sunday, September 14, we will close the week with a relaxed Tea Salon, curated by Viki Lund. No registration is required for this. We look forward to welcoming you to the Lucid Studio in Munich.”
