Lucid sold 4,985 vehicles in the US during the first quarter of 2026, according to sales estimates published by Motor Intelligence on Wednesday.
The Saudi-backed EV maker’s first-quarter registrations more than doubled year over year, rising 106.7% from 2,412 units in the same period of 2025.
Lucid, led by the interim CEO Marc Winterhoff since February 2025, is preparing to launch revamped versions of its two models as it seeks to increase demand.
Compared with the fourth quarter — the first full period without the $7,500 federal EV tax credit — the figures rose 46.6%.
The increase is marked by the production ramp-up of the EV maker’s second model, the Gravity SUV.
In March alone, Lucid sold 1,785 vehicles in its domestic market — a 89.5% jump from the 942 EVs recorded a year ago when Gravity production was still very limited.
US sales nearly doubled in February to 1,500 units, following a 156% year-over-year surge in January.
Sequentially, March marks the first increase of the year.
As the first quarter comes to an end, Lucid is preparing to transition the 2027 model year versions of its two models — the Air sedan and Gravity SUV.
The EV maker’s VP of Communications Nick Twork teased earlier this Wednesday that the 2027 model year will bring “additional enhancements” without disclosing details.
Lucid closed the online configurator for both vehicles during March. It is expected to reopen once next year’s versions are officially announced.
As of Wednesday, customers still couldn’t build custom orders — and were instead directed to purchase from available inventory or vehicles already in the production pipeline.
Model Breakdown
Motor Intelligence breaks down figures by “cars” and “trucks,” with the debut Air sedan being considered in the first category and the Gravity SUV ranked in the second one.
Data from Cox Automotive, which compiles quarterly sales per model, is expected to be released later this month.
The data showed that the Lucid Air accounted for 685 units, while the SUV represented the remaining 1,100 vehicles.
Sales of the sedan fell in March to the lowest since October 2025.
The Lucid Air is available for purchase in the US with a starting price of $70,900 for the Pure variant.
The sedan is also available in Touring and Grand Touring trims (from $79,990 and $114,900, respectively). The fully spec’d Sapphire edition is priced at $249,900.
The model began production in 2021, with customer deliveries starting later that same year.
Three years later, Lucid handed over the first Gravity units to employees and family, before full-scale customer deliveries began in 2025.
The Gravity SUV first debuted with the higher-priced Grand Touring trim, which began from $94,900.
The Touring variant, launched last year, is priced from $79,900.
Sales jumped to 1,100 units in March from just 30 a year ago.
As reported earlier on Wednesday, Lucid issued a physical recall to its second model affecting all units produced until mid February.
Discounts
Lucid Motors has extended during the last week of March a $3,000 discount on its Air sedan and Gravity SUV through the end of March, after initially setting a March 22 cutoff as part of a quarter-end sales push.
Last month, the company also revived a $7,500 lease credit on the Gravity SUV after the incentive had been set to expire on February 12.
The credit is paired with a trade-in program targeting Tesla, Rivian and Polestar owners, which can lead to a discount of up to $5,000 in the new purchase.
The current campaign offers up to $12,500 in combined lease incentives on the Gravity — more than triple the $4,000 maximum promoted during the final week of February, when the lease credit was not advertised.
For the Lucid Air, the company offers a separate Air Credit of up to $12,500 for cash buyers on the Pure and Touring trims and $15,000 on the Grand Touring, alongside the same Conquest and trade-in structure.
2025 Figures
Lucid Motors delivered 5,345 vehicles globally in the fourth quarter and a total of 15,841 in 2025.
According to data published by Cox Automotive, 4,330 of these were sold in the United States between October and December, totaling 12,614 units in full-year 2025.
The company’s CFO Taoufiq Boussaid stated late last year that Lucid‘s second model would outsell the Air sedan for the first time in the fourth quarter, becoming the major driver of the new output record.
However, the data from Cox Automotive showed otherwise.
In late February, Lucid disclosed that it produced fewer electric vehicles in 2025 than it had announced in early January — revising its full-year production total to 17,840 units.
Outlook
The company said it expects to manufacture between 25,000 and 27,000 electric vehicles this year.
Speaking at the Bank of America 2026 Automotive Summit in March, Boussaid said the company is “being conservative in [their] assumptions,” accounting for the current challenges in the industry.
In the same conference, interim CEO Marc Winterhoff said that the company estimates the Gravity SUV to represent most of its production and deliveries in 2026.
The company will begin production of its third model — and first under the mid-size platform — late this year.
The Cosmos SUV — for which more details were revealed during Lucid‘s inaugural Investor Day on March 12 — will be manufactured in the company’s Saudi Arabia plant.
The company is counting on the successful rollout of its midsize platform to drive the scale needed to reach profitability.
Boussaid told investors the company expects to reach 100,000 units of annual production by 2028 and generate positive free cash flow by the end of the decade.
Despite a stock uptick throughout March, Lucid is trading near its all-time low of $8.90 — set on February 24, immediately after the release of its fourth-quarter results.
