As reported by EV last week, the battery team of the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Lucid Motors has been dedicated to offer the best efficiency possible across the variants of the Lucid Air Sedan while preparing the launch of the SUV Gravity.
On Tuesday, the company led by Peter Rawlinson announced that the 2025 version of its Air Pure can achieve 5.0 miles per kilowatt hour of energy and record 146 MPGe EPA rating.
Previously developed for the top variant of the Air sedan the Lucid Sapphire, the heat pump is now standard on the 2025 variants.
The upgraded Lucid Air Grand Touring has now an estimated EPA range of 512 miles with prices staring from $110,900 excluding tax, title, license, options, destination and documentation fees. The entry level variant, the Pure, starts at $69,000 and can also be ordered already from today.
The enhancements extend across the entire Lucid Air lineup, from the Air Pure to the Air Grand Touring models. All vehicles will now come equipped with Lucid’s DreamDrive Premium ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) as standard.
This system includes features such as 3D Surround View Monitoring and live Blind Spot Display, among others, to enhance driver safety and convenience.
Additionally, the Air Grand Touring models will now feature Lucid’s advanced SurrealSound Pro sound system as standard, elevating the in-car entertainment experience to new levels.
“The advancements introduced across the Lucid Air lineup for 2025 further cement our leadership position. Lucid Air is the very embodiment of our relentless approach to optimization, enabling Air Pure to use less electrical energy than any other vehicle for any journey taken, A to B,” the chief executive said in a statement.
The EV maker reported last week the delivery of 2,394 vehicles in the second quarter of the year, while producing 2,110 units, beating expectations from Wall Street analysts.
Lucid shares soared 25 percent on Friday closing at $4.25, the highest closing price since late December 2023.
In a new research note, Citi analyst Itay Michaeli said the rally was part of a broader rally in electric vehicle stocks, as EV sentiment continues to improve. The analyst keeps a Neutral rating on the stock with a $2.90 price target, 31% lower than the Friday’s closing price.
Rivian shares closed 8% higher, while Tesla surged nearly 3%. U.S.-listed stocks of Chinese EV makers also experienced gains, with Nio rising 4%, and Polestar, backed by the Geely Holding Group, increasing by more than 9%.
NEVER MISS AN UPDATE
“We’re able to go further with less battery energy than anyone else. I recently announced that we hit the magic five miles per kilowatt hour landmark, and we’re going to reveal a product which achieves that very soon,” Lucid CEO stated.
The company is expanding its plant in Saudi Arabia, the first one outside the United States, with the construction of 7/8 new buildings already in progress.
Currently, the AMP-2 facility is performing semi knocked-down (SKD) assembly, reassembling Lucid Air vehicle kits pre-manufactured at the company’s factory in Arizona, with an annual capacity to assemble 5,000 vehicles.
Lucid scheduled a conference call to discuss its second quarter 2024 financial results on August 5 at 5:30 pm eastern time immediately after releasing its Q2 report.
