Marc Winterhoff, the interim CEO of the EV maker Lucid Motors, announced late Thursday the company will start customer deliveries in the U.S. of its Gravity model “by the end of April.”
Orders for the higher-end trim opened last November, with prices starting just under $95,000.
At a private event held Thursday at Lucid’s New York City store, Winterhoff said the company has ‘nearly finished’ producing showroom and test drive vehicles.”
“I also would like to give an update on our production and delivery ramp-up of the Gravity,” Winterhoff stated. “We nearly finished building all of the vehicles that we wanted to build to put them into our studio and for test drives.”
Here’s the full speech from Marc Winterhoff.
Lucid delivered the first Gravity SUVs to ‘some employees, family, and friends’ in the final days of 2024, and since then, it has not revealed when customer deliveries would begin. Peter Rawlinson, the former CEO and current Strategic Technical Advisor to the Chairman of the Board, also took delivery of his SUV in December.
“And by the end of April, we will resume customer deliveries of the Gravity,” the EV maker’s interim CEO said referring to the first customer units.
“Also, you will see probably around mid-April some media reviews because we’re conducting extensive media test drives in the first half of April. And then after that in the second half of April, we will then start test drives for our customers,” Winterhoff stated.
For now, US customers can only order the higher-end trim with prices starting at $94,900. Lucid has not yet announced when orders will open in the U.S. for the more affordable Gravity Touring trim, which will start at $79,900.
In Saudi Arabia, the EV maker opened orders for the entry-level trim last week with prices starting at SAR 416,645 ($111,060), according to Lucid’s Saudi website.
Those prices exclude a documentation and registration fee of SAR 2,500 and 15% value-added tax, which adds more than SAR 50,000 to the base price. Production of the cheaper trim is planned to start in late 2025.
For the high-end Gravity Grand Touring variant, Lucid began accepting orders in the United States and Canada in late 2024, with Saudi Arabia following shortly after.
European deliveries of the SUV are planned to begin in early 2026.
