Lucid to Begin Gravity Production in Nov/Dec, Off-Road Mode Confirmed

Lucid Motors hosted an event on Sunday in Torrance, CA, attended by over 250 owners who had the opportunity to meet the management team and get an exclusive first look at the company’s second model, the three-row SUV, Gravity.

According to Lucid enthusiasts who talked with executives at the event, the model is on track to begin production in November/December, with deliveries expected to start shortly thereafter.

On the last day of July, Lucid’s CEO, Peter Rawlinson, announced that the first pre-production units of the Gravity had rolled off the production line.

As revealed in a social media post late last year, the SUV will feature an all-new Zero Gravity air suspension, allowing the vehicle to automatically adapt for optimal driving pleasure and safety in all conditions. The system can raise the ride height to maximize off-road capability or lower it to enhance on-road performance and extend range.

As seen in one of its key competitors, the SUV from the Irvine-based manufacturer Rivian, Lucid Gravity will also feature an off-road mode that improves traction and handling when driving in gravel, sand, or mud.

Although they are only planned to become available in late 2025, Lucid is developing captain chairs for the three-row SUV offering greater adjustability and a more spacious cabin.

As of now, it is still not confirmed if the California-based EV maker will add extra features to the second and third-row seats such as heating, cooling, or massage function.

Last week, the company reiterated its annual production guidance of 9,000 vehicles as it prepares to start producing its second model, the Gravity SUV, later this year.

With 1,728 vehicles produced in the first quarter and 2,110 vehicles in the second quarter, the California-based EV maker expects to produce 5,162 vehicles in the second half of the year.

The company revealed last week that its largest shareholder, which owns about 60% of the EV maker, will inject another $1.5 billion in cash. In March, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) had agreed to invest $1 billion.

Lucid Motors reported its earnings results from the second quarter of the year with revenue beating analysts’ estimates: $200.6 million versus $186.2 million.

The California-based company delivered 2,394 vehicles in the second quarter of the year and produced 2,110 units.
