Lucid Signs Tire Supply Deal with Pirelli for Saudi Arabia Through PIF-Backed JV

Lucid Motors said on Thursday it had signed a long-term agreement with Italian tiremaker Pirelli to supply tires for its vehicles in Saudi Arabia.

The tires will be produced locally by a joint venture between Pirelli and the Public Investment Fund (PIF), Lucid’s largest shareholder, which aims to localize tire manufacturing and related technologies.

The joint venture was established in late 2023, with PIF holding a 75% stake and Pirelli the remaining 25%.

“We are proud to announce a long-term partnership with Pirelli to supply Lucid tyres in Saudi Arabia, to promote the local industry that ensures the high-quality performance of our modern models,” the company wrote earlier this Thursday on LinkedIn.

The tires will be manufactured through a joint venture between the Public Investment Fund and Pirelli, aimed at localizing automotive tire production and advanced industrial technologies.

Earlier this month, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Trade has received the first batch of Saudi-assembled Lucid Motors vehicles, a month after it first issued procurements for the brand’s electric vehicles.

The first tender documents were published at the end of May and covered shipments of Lucid vehicles to embassies and consulates.

Faisal Sultan, recently promoted to President for the Middle East, has recently said that deliveries of the brand’s second model, the Gravity SUV, are “just around the corner” for the kingdom.

According to the executive, Lucid will be launching its midsize platform in late 2026 or early 2027. Sultan also stated that the brand will be “manufacturing it within the kingdom.”
