Lucid Shuts Down Online Configurator, Announces Upcoming 2027 Models

Lucid Motors has closed its online configurator for both the Air sedan and the Gravity SUV, directing customers to purchase from existing inventory or vehicles already scheduled for production until the 2027 model year is announced.

“We will resume taking orders when the 2027 model year is announced,” Nick Twork, the company’s Vice President of Communications, wrote in a Lucid-dedicated Facebook group.

“Until that time, you can work with your sales advisor to find a vehicle scheduled for production or in inventory that matches your specifications,” Twork added.

The executive said he was “unable to share further details at this time.”

The change was first noticed on February 18, when a member of the Lucid Owners Forum noted that the Gravity configurator had replaced the “place order” button with a “Save Design” option.

Lucid could announce the 2027 model year lineup at its upcoming investor day on March 12, or follow last year’s timing and unveil the update in April — when the 2026 Gravity was first revealed.

Air Sales

The Air sedan has struggled commercially since its launch.

Lucid delivered 15,841 vehicles globally in 2025, a 55% increase from the prior year.

In the United States, Motor Intelligence, released on Tuesday, estimated that Lucid sold 1,500 vehicles in February, up from 900 in January.

Overseas, the Air has been nearly unsold in key European markets.

In Norway, Lucid registered just two vehicles in the past six months. In the Netherlands, the Air has gone unsold since December, with only three Gravity units registered this year.

Model Year Transition

The 2026 Gravity was unveiled on April 15, 2025.

The Grand Touring was priced from $94,900 and made available to order immediately, while the Touring was priced from $79,900 and planned for later that year.

It is unclear what changes the 2027 model year will bring.

Gravity Incentives

The configurator shutdown comes as Lucid has been aggressively discounting the Gravity.

As reported by EV on Tuesday, the company was offering up to $12,500 in combined lease incentives on the model, including the $7,500 Lucid Advantage Credit, 0% financing for up to 60 months, and trade-in allowances of up to $5,000 for Tesla, Rivian and Polestar owners.

Delivery was required by March 31.

The escalation in incentives followed a pattern that began in October, when Lucid offered its first-ever $3,000 discount on the Gravity at a single showroom in Denver. The company initially denied the discount reflected a demand issue, citing a “substantial order backlog.”

Since then, incentives broadened nationwide and grown in scope.

The company is targeting production of 25,000 to 27,000 vehicles in 2026, with the Gravity expected to account for the majority of output.
