Lucid Motors will open its first location in Belgium this year, Flanders Investment & Trade announced on LinkedIn, confirming plans EV first reported in December 2024.
Two sources close to the matter told EV at the time that the California-based brand was planning to enter the Belgian market and move away from relying exclusively on the direct-to-consumer model it had used during its first years in Europe.
The company’s then recently appointed European chief Lawrence Hamilton confirmed EV‘s report weeks later on LinkedIn on January 10, 2025.
Lucid participated in the Brussels Motor Show for the first time in January 2025.
However, the expansion to the market was delayed by a year and will now occur in 2026.
Expansion Confirmed
“We’re thrilled to announce that Lucid Motors is officially coming to Flanders, opening their very first location in Belgium this year!” the agency wrote on LinkedIn.
“Lucid‘s innovative approach to electric vehicles—combining luxury, performance, and cutting-edge technology—will now be within reach for Belgian drivers,” Flanders Investment & Trade added.
The agency facilitates American direct investment projects in Flanders and supports Flemish companies exporting to the US.
The California-based company currently operates in Norway, Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
2025 European Registrations
Lucid registered 319 vehicles across its four European markets in 2025, a 32% decline from 470 units the prior year, as the company struggled to build momentum ahead of a planned expansion to eight additional countries.
December registrations totaled 26 units — 14 in the Netherlands and 12 in Germany — with both Norway and Switzerland recording zero sales for the month, data compiled by EV shows.
Broader European Expansion
Lucid will expand into eight additional European markets in 2026, tripling its footprint on the continent to a total of 12 countries, management told reporters including EV last September in Germany.
Hamilton confirmed that Denmark will be among the new markets, while interim chief executive Marc Winterhoff said France will be included.
The UK, France, Italy, Denmark, Belgium, and Spain are among the eight markets Lucid is preparing to enter.
In mid-2025, Hamilton told Spanish outlet Marca that Lucid aimed to establish a presence in the five largest European markets — Germany, the UK, France, Italy, and Spain — within 18 months.
Early Activity in Spain
According to data published by the platform EU-EVs, which reports daily vehicle registrations across several European markets, Lucid registered three Air sedans in Spain during November — two Air Pure units and one Air Touring.
Another Air Pure unit was registered in December.
It remains unclear whether the premium brand registered the vehicles as part of its go-to-market plans or if they were imported from other countries by individual customers.
Before expanding into a new market, vehicle brands typically register the first units to serve as showroom vehicles or as internal fleet.
Gravity Deliveries Pending
At the same September event, Winterhoff said Gravity deliveries across Europe would begin in January, with the company aiming to deliver some units before the end of 2025.
As of Monday, no Gravity deliveries in any of the four European markets have been announced by the EV maker.
Last September, production of European units was already underway, according to the management.
