Lucid Sells 7 EVs in Netherlands in May, 23 Units Year-to-Date

Lucid Motors sold seven electric vehicles in the Netherlands in May, unchanged from the same month last year — data released on Monday showed.

The figures bring the company’s year-to-date registrations in the country to 23 units as of May 31, matching the total recorded during the same five-month period in 2024.

Lucid, which entered the Dutch market in late 2022, achieved its best monthly sales performance in the country this March, with 12 vehicles registered.

In 2024, sales in the Dutch market stood at 48 units.

The Netherlands is home to the company’s European headquarters and one of four European markets where it currently operates, alongside Germany, Norway, and Switzerland.

Additional market entries are expected later this year.

While Lucid was recently spotted testing its upcoming Gravity SUV at Germany’s Nürburgring racetrack, the company has not yet disclosed when it plans to begin deliveries of the model in Europe.

In the Netherlands, the entry-level Pure version of the Lucid Air sedan starts at €88,000, while the Touring trim also begins at €88,000 and the Grand Touring variant at €132,000.

The top-tier Sapphire model, available for pre-order, is priced at €255,000 and features a 0–100 km/h acceleration in 2.0 seconds and a WLTP range of 694 kilometers.

Lucid sells its vehicles in Europe through flagship showrooms, following the same direct-to-consumer approach used in its U.S. market.

However, and as first reported by EV last December, new markets are planned for the future with the brand working with local partners and distributors, allowing a much lower investment in infrastructure and staff.

Tesla sales jumped nearly 180% month over month to 1,057 vehicles in May, but still represented a 36% decline when compared to a year ago.

Premium Chinese brands Nio and Zeekr registered 155 and 5 vehicles, respectively. Polestar sales fell 18% year over year to 134 units.

Cláudio Afonso founded CARBA in early 2021 and launched the news blog EV later that year. Following a 1.5-year hiatus, he relaunched EV in April 2024. In late 2024, he also started AV, a blog dedicated to the autonomous vehicle industry.
