Lucid Motors‘ US sales jumped by nearly 156% year over year in January, data released by Motor Intelligence on Tuesday showed.
The Saudi-backed EV maker sold 1,700 vehicles in the United States last month, marking a 155.6% year on year increase despite the sequential drop from December’s revised figures of 2,415 units.
The January result extends Lucid‘s streak of year-over-year domestic sales growth to six consecutive months, driven by the production ramp-up of its second model and despite the federal EV tax credit expiring on September 30.
The company extended its $7,500 Lucid Advantage Credit for Gravity SUV leases through mid-January, giving customers an additional 18 days to take advantage of the offer originally set to expire at year-end.
Earlier this month, the EV maker also launched a limited-time campaign combining the $7,500 credit with a $5,000 on-site vehicle bonus, bringing total incentives to $12,500 for customers who take delivery by January 18.
Customer deliveries for the Gravity SUV began last year, months after the first units were handed over to employees and family in the final days of 2024.
Rivals
Last month, J.D. Power analysts predicted a decline in EV and PHEV sales in the US, driven by larger incentives for gasoline-powered vehicles, ongoing profit pressure from tariffs, and the continued slowdown in EV sales following the end of the $7,500 federal tax credit.
Among pure EV makers, Tesla led with an estimated 40,100 vehicles sold in January, down 17% from December, while Rivian’s 2,516 registrations marked a three-year low and an 18% decline from a year earlier.
Revised December Figures
Upon publishing last month’s report, Motor Intelligence initially disclosed that Lucid sold 1,485 units, but revised this number upward by nearly 1,000 vehicles a week later.
This was the only adjustment made among the 48 brands covered in the report.
It’s unclear whether the revised figure came from official Lucid data, as the company doesn’t publicly release monthly breakdowns by sales volume, model, or region.
Both the initial and revised numbers represent the EV maker’s strongest month of US sales
The revised estimate would represent Lucid‘s strongest month of US sales by a significant margin, far exceeding the previous record implied by the original January 5 figures.
The original figures brought Lucid‘s implied fourth-quarter US total to approximately 3,400 units.
With the revised December estimate, that figure rises to approximately 4,330 units — which indicates that the company sold 1,015 vehicles outside of the US in the final quarter of 2025.
Gravity Software Update
The company released its 3.4 software update for the Gravity SUV over the weekend, which enhanced audio controls and improved key fob recognition — one of the most common complaints among Gravity owners.
Lucid‘s recently appointed Senior Vice President of Engineering and Digital Emad Dlala said on Monday the company’s latest update addresses up to 95% of the issues previously flagged by owners.
Dlala’s expanded role came as Eric Bach, Senior Vice President of Product and Chief Engineer, was let go — as exclusively reported in November by EV and later confirmed by the executive in a lawsuit against Lucid for wrongful termination and discrimination.
As of Tuesday, Lucid has yet to deliver any Gravity SUVs to European customers, missing the January timeline its management set at the vehicle’s official European launch last September.
