Lucid Says Gravity Inventory Listings Reflect Production Dynamics, Not Weak Demand

Lucid Motors has sought to reassure investors after its first Gravity SUVs appeared in online inventory, sparking speculation over demand for the new model.

The EV maker said the move was driven by production dynamics, not weaker demand.

The comments come as Lucid that efforts are underway to strengthen the supply chain for certain configurations and accelerate output at the Arizona facility.

As of Sunday, Lucid’s “Available Vehicles” page, filtered to the Casa Grande, Arizona, factory ZIP code, show five Gravity Grand Touring configurations listed as “available in 2 weeks.”

Most of the available configurations are five-seat variants, with prices starting at $96,550, excluding tax, title, license and, if applicable, transportation fees.

Investors reacted on social media after Lucid listed Gravity vehicles for immediate delivery, questioning the move as the company continues to work through a backlog of orders.

Lucid’s global head of communications Nick Twork dismissed the speculation, writing on X: “This is not a demand related development.”

Expanding on the decision, Twork added in a separate post that customers could now skip the wait and purchase from a limited pool of immediately available vehicles.

“While we have been building Lucid Gravity vehicles to order to satisfy existing customer orders, we’ve produced a small number of configurations based on component availability, ensuring we didn’t lose production slots when parts were constrained,” Twork wrote.

“That means you can now skip the wait and drive away in one of our most sought-after models today,” the executive added.

Asked whether the company tries to align those units with customers already holding orders, Twork replied, “They do that as well.”

The remarks follow Twork’s comments in mid-August that, “We are not demand constrained, we are production constrained.”

A recent drone flyover of the Lucid plant in Arizona showed about 1,000 units of the three-row SUV.

It remains unclear how many of those units were only pre-assembled before being shipped to the semi-knockdown plant in Saudi Arabia.

The first pre-production Gravity unit was driven in July 2024 by then-CEO Peter Rawlinson, who later marked official production kickoff on December 5.

Customer deliveries stalled sharply in early 2025 before resuming in late April.

Twork told InsideEVs in August: “Supply chain constraints were behind the initial issues we experienced in scaling up, but we have since addressed many of those constraints and improved manufacturing efficiency during the year.”

He added: “In overcoming most of these issues, we are further ramping up Lucid Gravity production, giving us confidence that we will significantly increase Lucid Gravity production in the second half of the year.”

Without giving figures, he said, “To put things in perspective, just in the past few weeks, we have built more Lucid Gravity SUVs than in the first half of the year.”

The update came after S&P Global Mobility reported only nine Gravity units were sold in the first half of 2025, figures echoed by Motor Intelligence and Cox Automotive.

Interim CEO Marc Winterhoff later rejected Motor Intelligence’s July tally of zero sales as “totally false.”

Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Andres Sheppard projected last month that Lucid will deliver 16,650 vehicles in 2025, including 6,064 Gravity SUVs and 10,586 Air sedans.

The first Gravity model was listed last week on the second-hand market, with just 200 miles on the odometer.

The SUV in question is a 2026 Gravity Dream Edition and the highest bid stands at $115,000 as of Sunday with 25 bids placed so far.

The figure is about $25,000 lower than the Gravity Dream Edition’s $139,900 MSRP.

The seller acquired the Lucid model three months ago, in June.
