Lucid Replaces SVP of Operations, Marking 11th Executive Departure in 1.5 Years

Lucid Motors has replaced its senior vice president (SVP) of operations Steven David, as leadership changes continue at the California-based EV maker.

The company updated its website and removed the executive, who had joined Lucid in August 2022, while replacing him with the Ford veteran Adrian Price.

Price joined the Detroit automaker in 1997 and held twelve different positions over the past 26 years, according to his LinkedIn profile. Lucid said its new operations chief will be based at its manufacturing facility in Arizona and will oversee operations, including supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, and quality.

“Adrian is a veteran lean manufacturing executive who has a demonstrated ability to lead large, multicultural organizations, implement lean manufacturing principles, and instill a quality-focused culture among employees,” Lucid stated on its website.

The EV maker said Price has previously run multiple facilities and overseeing multiple factory launches, and directing global manufacturing engineering for both vehicle and powertrain operations.

Peter Rawlinson has recently stepped down as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer with immediate effect. The company did not disclose the origin of the decision but the fact that the CEO did not attend the Q4 earnings conference call caused special interest with shareholders and Wall Street analysts.

The EV maker appointed Marc Winterhoff, who joined Lucid in December 2023, as interim CEO while the board searches for a permanent replacement.

The U.S. carmaker said Rawlinson will transition to the role of ‘Strategic Technical Advisor to the Chairman of the Board’ revealing in a SEC filing that the former CEO will receive a $120,000 monthly payment for a period of two years alongside other advantages.

Departures at Lucid

Since October 2023, the company has seen eleven high-level exits, including the CEO (who has now a new role), two C-suite executives, two senior vice presidents, five vice presidents, and the European chief.

Late last year, Vice President of Marketing and Communications Andrea Soriani left Lucid to rejoin Maserati as General Manager for North America. In December, Alexander Lutz, who had been managing director for Lucid’s European operations, also departed, marking the ninth senior executive exit in 14 months.

Lucid’s board said last month it has “initiated a search to identify Lucid’s next Chief Executive Officer with the support of a leading executive search firm.”
