After two consecutive months of no registrations in the Norwegian market, the EV maker Lucid Motors registered one vehicle in November.
The unit, however, was a Gravity SUV, intended for showroom display or press use. Customer deliveries of Lucid’s second model are scheduled to begin in a few weeks.
Lucid made the European debut of the large SUV in September, opening orders across its four markets.
Deliveries are expected to begin in early 2026, Lucid’s Europe chief Lawrence Hamilton said a few days after the launch, while revealing that “European production has already started.”
By then, the executive teased that the first units could be delivered before the year-end.
The Gravity Grand Touring, its higher-end trim, is priced from NOK 1.249 million ($122,800) in Norway.
The Touring trim is priced from NOK 1.049 million ($103,100). Orders for the variant opened last month.
Data from both platforms Elbilstatistikk and EU-EVs show that Lucid registered 19 units year-to-date in Norway — where electric vehicles have a 95.5% share.
The company entered the Norwegian market in early 2023, with a showroom in Oslo. Since then, it has registered a total of 28 vehicles.
Last month, 19,427 out of 19,899 cars sold in Norway were fully electric, representing a market share of 97.6%.
Of these, 6,215 were Teslas. The US brand led the market with a 31.2% share, far ahead of Volkswagen at 11% and Volvo at 9%.
Norway is planning to reduce subsidies for EV purchases starting from January, as it nears its goal of having all new car sales be electric.
The move has led to a surge in demand for electric vehicles before the end of the year.
Lucid Air Demand
November marked the third consecutive month with zero sales of the Lucid Air sedan, following 11 units sold in July and four in August.
There, the entry-level Air Pure starts at NOK 959,000 ($94,300), a price that was lowered earlier this year as the company aimed to drive demand — from NOK 1,120,150 ($110,100).
The Touring version is priced from NOK 1,109,000 ($109,000) and the Grand Touring from NOK 1,319,000 ($129,700).
The company offers a 0.0% nominal interest rate on all three variants, with effective rates ranging from 0.34% to 0.47%, depending on the trim level.
The fully spec’d Air Sapphire is also available in the market, priced at NOK 2.77 million ($272,000).
European Presence
Lucid established its European headquarters in the Netherlands in 2021, ahead of the market launch. Since then, the company has entered Germany, Norway and Switzerland.
In the Dutch market, the EV maker sold zero vehicles last month. In October, the EV maker had sold one Lucid Air and registered the first Gravity SUV in the market.
As of press time, monthly registrations for Germany and Switzerland were not yet published.
The US brand is planning to expand into eight additional European markets in 2026, tripling its footprint to 12 countries.
The company’s CEO confirmed France is among the next wave, while Lawrence Hamilton, the chief for the European region, said Belgium and Denmark will also be included.
At the same time, the company is introducing a new business model in emerging markets, by including dealerships to its direct-to-consumer showrooms.
While the Dutch, Norwegian, and Swiss markets are expected to remain showroom-only markets, the company confirmed last month that it is switching to a mixed business model in Germany.
The brand has undergone three leadership changes in Europe since 2023.
Michael van de Sande initially led the regional operations, followed by Alexander Lutz, who left a year ago.
The former Genesis executive Lawrence Hamilton took over in December 2024.
