Electric vehicle maker Lucid Motors registered 13 units in Germany in August, four more than in July and five more than the same month last year, according to official data from the Federal Motor Transport Authority released on Wednesday.

In August, the market share of battery electric vehicles (BEV) in Germany reached 13.7 per cent totaling 27,024 units, a significant plunge of 68.8 per cent year over year.

Sales of BEVs in the country have significantly declined since the German government cut incentives at the end of last year. Earlier today, Reuters reported that the German cabinet has agreed to proposed tax reductions to promote the use of electric cars.

Lucid registered 11 vehicles in Germany during the first quarter of the year and 54 in the second one. Year-to-date, Lucid‘s registrations in Germany total 86 vehicles.

Hybrid vehicles in Germany accounted for 35.1% of new registrations, with 69,344 units sold—a slight decrease of 1.5% compared to the previous year. The figures include 13,565 plug-in hybrids (PHEV), representing 6.9 per cent of the market, which also experienced a decline of 6.8%.

After opening its first showroom in the country two years ago, the company will expand its network later this month with the opening of its store in Frankfurt. An additional Lucid Studio, as the showrooms are called, will open in Hamburg in October.

In a social media post, the EV maker led by Peter Rawlinson announced said the city of Stuttgart — home to the German premium brands Mercedes-Benz and Porsche — will also have a showroom in the future.

With the upcoming openings, Lucid will have a total of eight stores across Switzerland, Germany, Norway, and the Netherlands.

Lucid reiterated recently its annual production guidance of 9,000 vehicles as it prepares to start producing its second model, the Gravity SUV, later this year.

With 1,728 vehicles produced in the first quarter and 2,110 vehicles in the second quarter, the California based EV maker expects to produce 5,162 vehicles in the second half of the year.
