Lucid Sells Only 1 Vehicle in October in Germany, Lowest in Over 2 Years

Lucid Motors sold only one vehicle in Germany last month, official registration data published on Wednesday by the KBA showed.

The result is the brand’s weakest level in 30 months, equivalent to about two and a half years, in Europe’s largest car market.

In September, the company had registered five units.

Last month’s registrations nearly vanished compared to the same month a year earlier, when the company sold 129 units — its monthly record in 2024.

After selling 35 vehicles in the first quarter of the year and 38 in the second quarter, Lucid registered a total of 68 units between July and September.

From January 1 to October 31, Lucid sold 142 vehicles in the German market — nearly half of the 256 vehicles registered in the ten first months of 2024.

The US brand’s sales in the country usually peak in the final quarter of the year. Last year, 265 out of the total 392 units sold were registered in the last three months.

Mixed Business Model

In Norway, zero vehicles were listed for the second consecutive month. Dutch sales reached two units. Lucid sold only one vehicle in Switzerland last month, according to data from the EU-EVs platform.

To counter weaker-than-expected demand across the continent, Lucid is introducing a mixed retail model in Europe, which will start with Germany and expand to other markets in 2026.

According to Lucid‘s Europe President Lawrence Hamilton, the Newark-based EV maker is transitioning from a direct-to-customer sales model in the country, with plans to “be represented in 12 to 15 cities” during the initial phase.

Lucid is seeking car dealership groups with established territories to partner with, aiming to grow its sales network to approximately 50–60 locations.

The automaker plans to extend the model beyond Germany in 2026, with new market entries slated for Belgium, Denmark, the UK, France, Italy and Spain, relying exclusively on local dealer partnerships.

Gravity Debut

In September, Lucid launched its second model, the Gravity SUV, in Europe. The vehicle was debuted at the IAA Auto Show, in Munich.

By then, the EV maker announced that it had started production of the model for European markets, with the first customer deliveries expected in early January.

Orders opened in Germany, with the Gravity Touring trim starting from €99,900 ($114,800) and the Grand Touring one priced from €116,900 ($134,300).

The Lucid Air sedan is priced from €85,900 ($98,700), in its Pure version, with the fully-spec’d Sapphire edition priced at €250,000 ($287,300).

The company has several units of its Air model in the inventory, including 5 Air Pure and 21 Air Touring units.

Germany EV Market

In a total of 250,133 vehicles registered in Germany last month, 52,425 were fully electric — a 47.7% increase from a year ago.

Electric vehicles represented 21% of the market. This indicates that one in every five cars sold in the country was a battery electric vehicle (BEV).

The Chinese premium brand Nio saw its registrations drop to just 16 units in October, down from 20 units in September.

In contrast, BYD and XPeng both recorded gains, with 3,353 and 241 vehicles registered, respectively. Both reached their highest monthly result since they entered the market.

Meanwhile, Tesla’s sales continued to fall sharply in Germany, more than halving both compared to last year and to the previous month.
