Lucid Records Zero Sales in Netherlands as European Demand Remains Minimal

Lucid Motors failed to register any vehicles in the Netherlands during November, marking the EV maker’s worst result since February 2024 in the market that houses its European headquarters.

The company had sold three vehicles in September and two in October, according to data from Dutch industry association BOVAG.

November’s figures come as Lucid prepares to begin European deliveries of its second model, the Gravity SUV, within the next four to five weeks.

Year-to-date through November, Lucid has registered just 39 vehicles in the Dutch market, three units below the 42 sold in the same period of 2024.

The company recorded 48 total sales in the Netherlands for full-year 2024.

March represented Lucid‘s strongest month in 2025, with 12 registrations—the company’s best performance in the market since it entered the Netherlands in late 2022.

Sales have steadily deteriorated since then, with the company recording just 15 registrations in the first quarter, 10 in the second quarter, nine in the third quarter, and only two vehicles in the fourth quarter through November.

European Contribution

Lucid does not break down its quarterly sales by region, but the company generated 84% of its third-quarter revenue from the United States, with European sales across four countries contributing less than 3% — a SEC filing showed last month.

Revenue from “Other international” markets — comprising Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland — totaled just $9.7 million in the third quarter, compared with $3 million a year earlier and $4.4 million in the second quarter.

Market Context and Competition

The weak performance stands in stark contrast to the broader Dutch electric vehicle market, where battery electric vehicles accounted for 48.1% of total sales in November with 17,192 registrations.

Hybrids followed at 42% market share.

The Škoda Enyaq led all models across powertrains with 1,441 units sold, capturing 8.4% market share. The Kia EV3 followed with 977 units, while the Tesla Inc. Model 3 took third place with 897 registrations.

Product Lineup

Lucid currently offers the Air sedan in the Netherlands in Pure, Touring, and Grand Touring trims — all from the 2025 model year as the company works through existing inventory.

According to the company’s website, the 2025 Air Pure starts at €72,853 before tax, the Touring at €85,167, and the Grand Touring at €109,961. The high-performance flagship Sapphire variant is priced at €255,000.

In September, Lucid opened European orders for the three-row Gravity SUV, priced from €102,900 in the Netherlands.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in early 2026, though interim Chief Executive Officer Marc Winterhoff suggested at the Gravity’s European debut in Munich that initial units could reach customers before year-end.

Expansion Plans Amid Weak Sales

Despite the disappointing sales performance, Lucid announced earlier this year that it plans to expand into eight additional European markets in 2026, tripling its continental footprint to 12 countries.

The Netherlands currently serves as one of four markets Lucid operates in Europe, alongside Germany, Norway, and Switzerland.

Winterhoff confirmed that France will be included in the rollout, while Europe President Lawrence Hamilton said Belgium and Denmark will also be among the new markets.

The European expansion comes as Lucid faces mounting challenges globally. The company’s shares have plummeted more than 57% since the beginning of 2025, reaching an all-time low of $11.46 on November 21.

During Lucid‘s third-quarter earnings call in November, Chief Financial Officer Taoufiq Boussaid acknowledged industry headwinds but maintained that the company was gaining market share in some regions despite overall weak EV demand following the expiration of certain tax credits and incentives in the US.
