Lucid Motors recorded its best-ever month for US sales in December, hitting nearly 1,500 units for the first time as the EV maker defied the broader industry slowdown following the expiration of federal tax credits.
US registrations reached 1,485 vehicles in December — comprising 1,100 cars and 385 trucks — up 90.4% from 780 units a year earlier, according to sales estimates released by Motor Intelligence on Monday.
The figures bring Lucid‘s US total for the fourth quarter to 3,400 units.
The company said earlier Monday that it delivered 5,345 vehicles globally in Q4, implying approximately 1,945 deliveries across Canada, its four European markets, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
Five Consecutive Months of Growth
Lucid‘s US sales have risen for five consecutive months, according to Motor Intelligence data — a rare bright spot after the $7,500 federal EV tax credit expired on September 30.
The company sold 910 vehicles in September, rose to 935 in October — the first month without the tax credit — then climbed to 980 in November before surging to 1,485 in December.
Globally, Lucid delivered 15,841 vehicles in 2025, up 55% from 10,241 units in 2024.
The company produced 18,378 vehicles, exceeding its revised annual guidance of 18,000 units.
Overall, electric vehicle sales declined in Q4 for both traditional automakers and EV-focused brands following the incentive’s expiration, erasing the seasonal fourth-quarter sales push typical in the automotive industry.
GM reported on Monday that its US EV sales plunged by 43% year over year in the final quarter of 2025.
Among EV-focused brands, Tesla registered 48,300 vehicles in December, while Rivian recorded 3,606 units. Geely-backed Polestar sold 380 vehicles, according to Motor Intelligence.
CEO Teases Updates
Interim CEO Marc Winterhoff said earlier this Monday he will share “more updates” this week following Lucid‘s record production and delivery results for 2025.
“I’m en-route to the CES and will be sharing more updates during this week, but for now I’d like to focus on thanking every member of the Lucid team for your passion and dedication,” Winterhoff wrote on LinkedIn. “I’m proud of the whole team!”
Lease Incentive Extended
Lucid extended last week its $7,500 Lucid Advantage Credit for Gravity SUV leases through mid-January, giving US customers an additional 18 days to take advantage of the incentive originally set to expire at year-end.
“For a limited time, take $7,500 off your Lucid Gravity lease with the Lucid Advantage Credit,” the company wrote in an email to US customers last week. “Must take delivery by January 18, 2026.”
The offer applies only to customers leasing a new Gravity from existing inventory and requires delivery within seven days of the vehicle being ready.
Lucid shares closed 4.84% higher at $11.69 — 12% above the recent all time low reached on the last day of 2025.
