Lucid Motors signed on Wednesday a cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), the Saudi-backed electric vehicle maker said on Wednesday.
The Middle East is assuming greater importance in Lucid’s operations, with increased backing from Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, an expanding sales network, rising deliveries in the region, and plans to begin full vehicle production locally by late 2026.
TVTC is the government agency responsible for regulating and delivering technical and vocational training in Saudi Arabia.
Lucid said on Wednesday that the deal “aims to empower Saudi talent by providing exceptional training and employment opportunities, contributing to the development of technical programs, and supporting research and innovation.”
Financial or operational details were not disclosed.
The partnership follows a similar memorandum of understanding signed in February between Lucid and the National Automotive and Vehicle Academy (NAVA), aimed at developing EV-focused curricula and training Saudi workers ahead of domestic production ramp-up.
Lucid is currently assembling vehicles at a semi-knockdown facility in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), which began operations in September 2023.
The plant, still under construction, is expected to reach full production capacity of up to 150,000 units annually by the end of 2026. The expansion is intended to serve both the domestic market and selected export regions, excluding China.
According to TVTC, 4,557 instructors had received “Certified Trainer” credentials in 2024, allowing them to conduct training courses in private institutions.
Lucid, which is majority-owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, has also continued to expand its retail footprint in the Gulf region.
On Tuesday, the company opened a temporary showroom in Abu Dhabi, its fourth retail site in the Middle East and its first in the UAE capital.
The store, located in The Galleria mall, is expected to remain open until the end of the year, according to the company.
In January, Lucid began taking orders in Saudi Arabia for the Grand Touring variant of its Gravity SUV, with prices starting at SAR 487,715 ($130,035).
The UAE followed with starting prices of AED 435,855, equivalent to $118,670. Orders for the lower-priced Touring trim began later in the quarter, with prices in Saudi Arabia starting at SAR 416,645.
