The struggling EV maker Lucid Motors announced another senior departure Wednesday, the twelfth C-suite or vice president exit in under two years.
Eric Bach, formerly Tesla’s director of engineering, is leaving after more than a decade at the company.
Bach joined in April 2015 as Senior Director of Body Engineering and served as senior vice president of product and chief engineer since March 2021.
Bach was among the executives present at Lucid’s Gravity launch in Europe last September.
Leadership Exodus Accelerates
The company has shed its CEO, CFO, general counsel and most of its senior leadership since October 2023.
Former CEO Peter Rawlinson transitioned to a senior advisory role in February — announced minutes after the Q4 2024 earnings release. CFO Sherry House departed in December 2023, fourteen months into her tenure.
The board initiated a CEO search in February “with the support of a leading executive search firm.”
Only two members of the original leadership team remain: Derek Jenkins, senior vice president of design and brand, and Emad Dlala, senior vice president of powertrains and product.
Dlala now assumes broader responsibility.
Lucid said on Wednesday he’ll oversee all product development, including vehicle engineering, digital systems and software.
Executive Departures Since October 2023
The exodus includes two C-suite officers, three senior vice presidents, five vice presidents, plus heads of European operations and investor relations.
Achim Pantfoerder, vice president of program management, left in October 2023 after joining in January 2021. Michael Bell, senior vice president of digital, departed in May 2024 after three years.
Derrick Carty, vice president of platform software engineering, exited in August 2024 after two years.
Matthew Everitt left in September 2024, ten months after joining as senior vice president and general counsel.
Kevin Callanan, vice president of supply chain and procurement, departed the same month after nineteen months. Margaret Burgraff, vice president of software quality and validation, left last January after four years.
