After Munich and Dusseldorf, the electric vehicle maker Lucid Motors opened on Saturday a new showroom in Germany, Lucid’s Director of Retail Europe Hans Mulder shared on LinkedIn.

Located at Goetheplatz 4 in Frankfurt, the store is the company’s third showroom in Germany, with a Hamburg location set to open in October.

With the upcoming openings, Lucid will have a total of eight stores across Switzerland, Germany, Norway, and the Netherlands.

“Lucid Motors continues to expand in Europe by officially opening our new state-of-the-art studio in Frankfurt,” the executive wrote on LinkedIn.

Lucid Motors registered 13 units in Germany in August, four more than in July and five more than the same month last year, according to official data from the Federal Motor Transport Authority.

The registration numbers from September will be released in early October.

In August, the market share of battery electric vehicles (BEV) in Germany reached 13.7 per cent totaling 27,024 units, a significant plunge of 68.8 per cent year over year.

Sales of BEVs in the country have plunged since the German government cut incentives at the end of last year.

Globally, Lucid aims to deliver 9,000 units this year. As of last month, the company surpassed the number of EVs delivered last year — 6,001 units.

The company’s chief executive Peter Rawlinson has recently reiterated the company’s goal to scale from 9,000 EVs in 2024 to 1 million units “in the early 2030s — 2031/ 2032.”

Lucid delivered 2,110 vehicles in the second quarter of the year and expects to produce 5,162 vehicles between July and December.

Last week, Lucid opened a new engineering and research center in Southfield, Michigan.
