Lucid Launches Certified Pre-Owned Program with Air Sedan Starting From $44,000

Lucid Motors introduced its first certified pre-owned vehicle program on Monday, seeking to expand its customer base beyond new-car buyers.

The program, branded Lucid Recharged, applies to single-owner vehicles with fewer than 62,000 miles on the odometer.

Each vehicle undergoes a 160-point inspection and receives mechanical and cosmetic reconditioning using only Lucid-approved parts before being listed for sale.

Customers will have the option to upgrade certain vehicles with additional features, including the DreamDrive Pro advanced driver-assistance system.

According to Lucid’s website, prices for a 2023 Lucid Air Pure — the entry level trim of the sedan — start just below $44,000.

A 2023 Air Pure with 21,037 miles in the odometer is available to order in California for $43,998 — excluding tax, title, license and, if needed, the transportation fee.

Erwin Raphael, Senior VP of Revenue at Lucid commented on the program’s launch.

“Now it’s easier than ever to enjoy the innovation, performance, and safety for which Lucid is known, along with the added confidence and peace of mind from a Lucid-backed reconditioning and additional CPO warranty coverage,” the executive said.

The company said that all certified pre-owned vehicles receive the balance of the original four-year, 50,000-mile factory warranty plus an additional 12-month, 12,000-mile manufacturer limited warranty.

The program includes roadside assistance for the full warranty period, verified clean title and service history documentation, a complimentary CARFAX report, and a detailed inspection report.

Recharged VS Pre-Owned

Lucid also offers a separate standard pre-owned tier for vehicles that do not meet the Recharged program’s eligibility requirements.

Standard pre-owned vehicles undergo the same 160-point inspection but receive only necessary repairs rather than full factory reconditioning, carry no additional warranty beyond any remaining original coverage, and may have had multiple previous owners.

Vehicle history reports and inspection documentation are available by request rather than included automatically.

Financial Update

The company’s interim CEO Marc Winterhoff said last week Lucid is funded “through”well into 2027.”

Winterhoff said that the Saudi-backed EV maker will return to capital markets “when it’s opportune” without disclosing any concrete timeline.

Cláudio Afonso founded CARBA in early 2021 and launched the news blog EV later that year. Following a 1.5-year hiatus, he relaunched EV in April 2024. In late 2024, he also started AV, a blog dedicated to the autonomous vehicle industry.
