Lucid Motors on Friday introduced a new accessory for its recently launched Gravity SUV: a foldable front trunk seat.
The product is listed on the company’s website as “coming soon” and priced at $500.
Named ‘Lucid Gravity Frunk Seat,’ it is designed to fit into the vehicle’s front trunk, or “frunk,” and can be deployed or stowed away in seconds, according to the EV maker.
“This custom-designed seat transforms your frunk into the perfect place to relax — whether you’re tailgating, parked at a scenic overlook, or chasing spontaneous adventures,” Lucid says on its website, as initially reported by X user LucidOasis.
Other available accessories for the Gravity model include cargo bins for the frunk ($120), a retractable cargo cover ($275), and a sunshade set priced at $250.
“Engineered for comfort and convenience, it sets up in seconds and packs away just as easily,” the company added. “Wherever the road takes you, this seat turns your frunk from basic storage into your go-to spot to kick back and enjoy the moment.”
Ahead of the European launch of its second model, the local engineering team completed an 8,000-kilometer (4,971 miles) road validation program from Germany to the Arctic Circle.
The Gravity, a large SUV which can fit up to 7 adults, will be the brand’s second vehicle line in Europe following the Lucid Air sedan, which starts at €83,000 in Germany.
As reported earlier this Thursday, interim CEO Marc Winterhoff said the company is seeing “phenomenal” feedback from customers despite admitting the “slower-than-desired” production ramp-up.
Still, the sluggish rollout has prompted questions about production readiness. A source familiar with the matter told EV in April that higher-volume output was unlikely to begin before June or July.
The Newark-headquarted company is expected to report vehicle production and delivery numbers for the second quarter of the year next week.
In May, it reaffirmed its target of producing about 20,000 units — more than doubling from the 9,029 EVs manufactured in 2024.
