Lucid Hires for Office in France Ahead of 2026 Expansion

Lucid Motors has quietly begun hiring software engineers in France, marking the first sign of a local presence in the country ahead of its planned market debut in 2026.

The California-based EV maker recently posted four open positions, all based in Toulouse, in the south of France.

Lucid’s subsidiary in the country — named ‘Lucid Motors S.A.S. France’ — is registered at 25 Chemin du Chapitre, 31100 Toulouse, located in an industrial zone on the western side of the city.

The roles include a QA Engineer, a Software QA Automation Engineer, a Senior Software Engineer, and a Senior Software QA Automation Engineer.

The luxury brand — which currently sells its Air luxury sedan in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Norway — confirmed during a media session in early September that France will be among the new markets next year.

According to the listings, the new hires will join Lucid’s software department to support development and testing of vehicle applications that control various electronic systems, from infotainment and audio to camera and low-power modes.

Several of the roles involve validation on vehicle systems, automation of QA testing, and integration of software features at the vehicle level.

Each job description calls for candidates experienced in Android and Linux environments, agile workflows, and embedded system validation.

The move comes as Lucid prepares to expand into eight additional European markets in 2026, tripling its footprint on the continent to a total of 12 countries.

“In total, next year our plans are to open in eight additional markets. So, we are rapidly expanding in Europe,” interim CEO Marc Winterhoff said in early September.

Lucid’s Europe president Lawrence Hamilton also confirmed that Denmark will be part of the 2026 expansion, alongside previously reported additions such as Belgium.

In a June interview with Spanish outlet Marca, Hamilton said Lucid’s priority over the following 18 months was to establish operations in the five largest European markets — Germany, the UK, France, Italy, and Spain.

The company has not yet specified which models will be sold in these new countries, though its upcoming Gravity SUV, a three-row vehicle set to enter production in 2026, is expected to lead the rollout.

Orders for the Gravity opened in Lucid’s four current European markets earlier this month, with first deliveries scheduled for the first days of 2026.

As reported last week by EV, the company is also expanding its manufacturing workforce in Arizona as it prepares to add a second production shift at its Casa Grande factory.

As of Friday, the company had 676 open positions worldwide.

Lucid had originally guided for “approximately 20,000” vehicles this year, but trimmed the target in early August to between 18,000 and 20,000 when it reported second-quarter earnings.

To avoid missing its production guidance, Lucid needs to fully produce 8,034 vehicles in the fourth quarter to reach the low end of that range — more than doubling the third-quarter output.
