Lucid Motors has halted deliveries of its Gravity SUV due to a defective middle seat component that requires replacement, according to a customer awaiting delivery in Florida.
The Saudi-backed EV maker has struggled to ramp up Gravity production, facing both internal supply chain issues and external disruptions including chip shortages and fires at an aluminum supplier.
X user Brian Stone, who ordered a Gravity Grand Touring in late January, said his vehicle arrived at the Riviera Beach delivery center on Saturday but the company informed him it cannot be released until the part is replaced.
“Lucid has halted all Gravity deliveries due to some sort of ‘middle seat component’ and will not release them until that part has been replaced,” Stone wrote on X.
“The only timeline I have received is ‘it will take a bit’ so I have no idea how long this delivery hold is expected to last,” he added.
The issue appears to be affecting multiple vehicles.
Another owner said their Gravity is currently in service for a rear seat replacement, though they were unaware that the problem was holding up new deliveries.
That owner reported the back seat motors were “loud and janky sounding” after taking delivery.
“If they haven’t had the ‘middle seat component’ replaced, they cannot release them for delivery to customers,” Stone wrote in response to another user who noted that vehicles remain in stock at California locations.
Asked on Wednesday for an update on the issue, the company’s VP of Communications Nick Twork has not replied to the X post as of press time.
Lucid shares closed at $10.05 on Wednesday, down 8.0%. The stock hit an all-time low of $9.37 last week.
Production Ramp-Up
Lucid delivered 5,345 vehicles globally in Q4 2025 and 15,841 for the full year, though the company does not break out Gravity deliveries separately.
Cox Automotive data shows that the premium brand delivered 1,142 Gravity SUVs in the final quarter of 2025.
Through the first three quarters of the year, Cox‘s data reports that only 300 units had been delivered.
Despite the company having told CNBC in December that it “stands by its numbers,” a Lucid spokesperson said at the time that the figures were “completely inaccurate.”
European Delays
The delivery pause in Lucid‘s domestic market adds to concerns about the Gravity rollout.
Lucid began production of European-specification Gravity units at its Casa Grande, Arizona factory in September, with customer deliveries planned for January across Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Norway.
As of Wednesday, the company has not announced any customer deliveries in Europe.
Lunar Titanium
Lucid has also yet to begin production of the Gravity in its ‘Lunar Titanium’ paint option, as EV reported last week.
Reservation holders and a recent factory flyover confirmed that every Gravity at the Casa Grande plant was finished in one of the five colors currently available to order.
The company first showcased the SUV in Lunar Titanium at the Los Angeles Auto Show in late 2023 — amid the model’s debut.
