Peter Rawlinson, the CEO and CTO of the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Lucid Motors has been reiterating, in recent interviews, that the deal the company did last year with Aston Martin is not a one-off.

This week, a new video filmed in South Korea, showed new Lucid’s upcoming SUV Gravity being transported. Last month, other Lucid Gravity vehicles were spotted in the country using the same official wrap but different license plates.

Local media outlet Sisa Journal has recently reported that the US-based startup is preparing to announce the supply of electric motors to Hyundai’s premium brand, Genesis.

Last year, Lucid entered a long-term partnership with Aston Martin to supply its EV powertrain and battery systems, securing contracts worth over $450 million. This partnership includes supply arrangements for Lucid’s powertrain components and systems.

According to the report, Hyundai would be able to accelerate the development of a new all-electric sports car slated for a 2025 launch by Genesis. Additionally, Hyundai plans to release the GV90, an electric sport utility vehicle from Genesis by late 2025.

According to the report from the South Korean media, Hyundai Motor CEO Jang Jae-hoon visited Lucid‘s headquarters in California earlier this year to explore potential cooperation between the two automakers.

The two companies are said to be in the final stages of negotiating the agreement, ironing out details such as the pricing of the electric motors and the specific models they will be integrated into.

Last Friday, Lucid said it had reached an agreement over the opened trademark dispute for its upcoming SUV Gravity.

In a recent interview on the podcast “The Luxury Item with Scott Kerr,” Rawlinson expressed bold confidence in the new model, criticizing the current electric SUVs on the market by stating, “None of the electric SUVs available are very good.”

“This car will have driving dynamics and performance that exceed a Lamborghini Urus,” Rawlinson remarked.

“Yes, there are many EV SUVs out there, but none of them are very good. I’m sorry, they’re not. None of them have anything like the dynamic performance of Gravity. None of them have the range, the practicality, the interior space, or the compactness and versatility that Gravity offers.”

During the first quarter, the electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid delivered 1,967 vehicles, a nearly 40 percent growth compared to the first three months of last year. In the conference call that followed the earnings release, CEO Peter Rawlinson disclosed that over 500 of them were delivered to Saudi Arabia.
