U.S. News & World Report has named Lucid Motors the best luxury electric vehicle (EV) brand for 2025, citing the EV maker’s range and performance advantages despite having only two models available.
Awards will be presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this week with the 2025 edition marking the first year where U.S. News launches EV-dedicated categories.
Lucid, which only began delivering vehicles in 2021 and has faced production issues this year, is on track to start producing its third model — a crossover SUV — late next year.
Before adding a new model to the portfolio, the Saudi-backed manufacturer plans to begin production of Gravity’s entry-level trim in December.
The base trim of Lucid’s Air sedan starts at around $70,000, while the high-performance variant Air Sapphire comes fully spec’d and is priced at $249,000.
The Gravity SUV, starting at $94,900 for the Grand Touring trim, while the upcoming entry-level variant starts about $15,000 lower.
Last week, Tesla’s largest content creator on X with one million followers Sawyer Merritt, praised Lucid’ Gravity model for its design and efficiency but criticized the absence of advanced autonomous driving technology.
“With so many positive attributes, both vehicles outscore every other model in their respective classes, including a variety of blue-chip machines from the most established luxury automakers of all,” US News wrote.
“The experience, and the cars, genuinely are luxurious,” the platform added later in the review.
Ford was named Best Electric Vehicle Brand for its Lightning pickup and Mustang Mach-E SUV.
The full list of U.S. News 2025 brand winners includes Honda (Best Car), Hyundai (Best SUV), Ram (Best Truck), Genesis (Best Luxury Brand), Ford (Best EV Brand), Lucid (Best Luxury EV Brand), and Lexus (Best Certified Pre-Owned Program).
