Lucid Motors CEO Peter Rawlinson ended 2024 by taking delivery of his own Gravity SUV, becoming one of the first owners of the company’s second EV model. Lucid shared the moment on social media, calling it an “extra special delivery” to close out the year.
The Gravity SUV, Lucid’s second model after the Air sedan, was delivered to Rawlinson as part of initial handovers to employees, friends, and families over the final weekend of 2024.
The company shares earlier this week seven pictures showing three members of its leadership team handing over the last Air sedans of the year. Eric Bach (Lucid’s senior VP of product and chief engineer), Emad Dlala (VP of powertrain), and Nick Twork (Head of global communications) personally delivered the EVs to the new customers.
“Yesterday our team made sure every customer got to celebrate the new year with their new Lucid Air. We’re delighted to welcome all the new members of the Lucid Owners Club for 2025,” Lucid wrote on X.
In a follow up post, Lucid said it had “plus one extra special delivery” while showing a picture of the chief executive Peter Rawlinson taking delivery of the brand’s second model, the Lucid Gravity.

The company plans to begin broader customer deliveries of the Gravity in the U.S. once additional units are shipped to showrooms and made available for test drives. European deliveries are expected to start in early 2026.
“This past weekend we handed keys to the first production Lucid Gravity SUVs off the line to some of our employees, friends and families,” the chief executive wrote on LinkedIn on Monday.
Lucid is expected to report its fourth quarter production and delivery figures later this Friday or next Monday. The company has guided to reach 9,000 produced vehicles in 2024.
“We are ramping Lucid Gravity production volume in a structured manner to ensure high-quality for our customers. Aside from these earlier deliveries to our employees, friends and families, many of our first production cars are destined for our sales studios and for test drives,” Rawlinson stated. “Once we have produced those vehicles, we’ll start delivering to a broader group of customers. This is just the beginning. Here’s to a remarkable 2025!”
As exclusively reported by EV on November 20, Lucid‘s customer deliveries of its second model were planned to begin in 2025.
Lucid began pre-production of the Gravity SUV in late July at its Casa Grande, Arizona, factory. On July 31, Rawlinson drove the first pre-production vehicle off the production line.
On October 29, Lucid provided updated production details, clarifying that customer deliveries of the $80,000 version would take longer than anticipated. It also announced that U.S. orders would open in early November.
The company said the Gravity Grand Touring, priced from $94,900, is set to begin production in late 2024, while the Gravity Touring, priced from $79,900, is scheduled for late 2025.
