Lucid Begins Deliveries of Top-Trim Gravity in Canada, Starting at C$134,500

Lucid Motors said on Saturday it began deliveries of its three-row Gravity SUV in Canada, a month after launching the model across its European markets.

The Gravity, Lucid’s second model after the Air sedan, is built at the company’s Arizona factory and starts at C$134,500 ($96,100) in Canada, according to the company’s website.

The Lunar Titanium Metallic exterior color and the Technology Package will be available this winter in both the US and Canada as the company still faces supply chain issues.

The Technology Package includes an augmented-reality head-up display, dynamic ambient lighting, and 1.8 kW power outlets, and it costs C$4,400 in Canada and $3,200 in the US.

Until the end of this month, Lucid is also offering a C$3,000 loyalty bonus for existing Lucid Air or Gravity owners who take delivery within seven days of vehicle readiness.

The model had already entered initial deliveries in the US during the final days of 2024 to employees and their families.

Lucid introduced the Gravity at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, with the first production unit rolling off the Arizona line in July 2024, driven by then-CEO Peter Rawlinson.

Production began with the top-tier Grand Touring trim, while the Touring version —planned to start around $79,900 in the US — is set to enter production later this year.

“There has been great anticipation for the Lucid Gravity in Canada,” said Erwin Raphael, Lucid’s vice president of revenue, in a statement.

“It offers space for up to seven adults and their luggage. It can handle even the most challenging conditions, making it ideal for extended road trips,” the VP added.

The Gravity’s top trim, named Grand Touring, is powered by dual electric motors delivering 828 horsepower, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds

With an estimated range of more than 720 kilometers, the SUV supports Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS), allowing direct access to Superchargers without an adapter.

Lucid says the 926-volt architecture enables charging speeds of up to 400 kW on 1000V equipment and 225 kW on 500V fast chargers, including Tesla V3 Superchargers.

At peak rates, the Gravity can add over 320 km of range in under 11 minutes, according to the company.

The company’s interim Chief Executive Officer Marc Winterhoff said earlier this month that the Gravity Grand Touring’s average selling price (ASP) in the US is about $120,000, well above the $94,900 starting price.

Customers are paying an average of $25,000 in added features, including the technology package, dynamic driving options, rear-wheel steering, and premium interior upgrades, Winterhoff told Semafor in a recent interview.

Lucid recently listed several Gravity inventory units on its US website that sold out within 24 hours, prompting it to add more.

Although the company doesn’t disclose monthly sales figures, Motor Intelligence estimated Lucid sold 910 vehicles in September, including 130 Gravity SUVs.

The EV maker dismissed the data, telling EV that “those numbers are inaccurate and not even in the ballpark.”

Winterhoff said Gravity demand has been “strong” despite the expiration of the US federal EV tax credit, adding that Lucid is honoring a $7,500 subsidy on all orders through year-end to avoid frustrating early buyers.

“We didn’t want to frustrate those customers, as we’re still ramping up [production], so we took that hit,” he said, adding that higher-than-expected ASPs provided the company with pricing flexibility.

Cláudio Afonso founded CARBA in early 2021 and launched the news blog EV later that year. Following a 1.5-year hiatus, he relaunched EV in April 2024. In late 2024, he also started AV, a blog dedicated to the autonomous vehicle industry.
