Lucid Announces Timothée Chalamet as Brand Ambassador Under Multi-Year Deal

Lucid Motors said on Tuesday it has signed a multi-year agreement with American-French actor Timothée Chalamet, appointing him as the electric vehicle maker’s first global brand ambassador.

The 29-year-old actor rose to prominence with his performance in the 2017 film Call Me by Your Name and has since received two Academy Award nominations, four BAFTA nominations, and four Golden Globe nominations.

Chalamet’s performance as Elio in Call Me by Your Name — when he was 21 years old — led to an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor and a Golden Globe nomination in the drama category.

The actor will front a new global campaign for Lucid, set to premiere in early autumn and focused on the upcoming launch of the Gravity SUV, the company said.

“Additional details [are] forthcoming,” Lucid noted in a statement. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Earlier this year, Chalamet won a Screen Actors Guild Award for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.

Lucid’s interim CEO Marc Winterhoff commented on the announcement via LinkedIn, writing: “As I said before, ramping up our marketing is a key priority this year. It’s not just a business goal; for me, it’s about sharing the passion and innovation that drives Lucid every day to a much broader audience than we have in the past.”

Chalamet was first seen driving a Lucid Air in 2023. His partnership with the California-based EV maker comes as the company looks to expand its brand awareness globally ahead of Gravity’s commercial rollout later this year.

“From the very beginning, Lucid has been about challenging the norm and making bold visions a reality,” Winterhoff added in his post. “We see that same boldness in Timothée, both in his craft and his approach to life.”

The actor is also set to appear in Marty Supreme, directed by Josh Safdie, later in 2025, and will reprise his role as Paul Atreides in Dune: Part Three, directed by Denis Villeneuve, slated for release in 2026.

The stock of the electric vehicle maker has recently been removed from the Russell 1000 Index and reassigned to the small-cap Russell 2000 Index following FTSE Russell’s annual reconstitution of US equity benchmarks.

The Russell 1000 lists the largest US companies by market value and is widely tracked by institutional investors.

As of the time of writing, Lucid shares are falling 8% and trading at $2.56.
