Lucid Announces $950 Infotainment Hardware Upgrade for Older Air Models

Lucid Motors has launched a new retrofit program enabling owners of earlier Air models to upgrade their vehicles’ infotainment systems to the same hardware standard found in the 2025 model year and Sapphire variants.

The upgrade costs $950 plus taxes and involves replacing the Center Console Control (CCC) unit, with Lucid’s latest-generation chip used in current production vehicles.

Available exclusively through Lucid Service Centers, the hardware swap brings a substantial increase in processing performance.

According to the company, the new CCC doubles system memory and storage and more than doubles compute power, resulting in quicker touchscreen response times and smoother animation transitions across the user interface.

“Your Lucid Service Center now offers a hardware upgrade to the Lucid Air infotainment processor,” the company said in an email sent to owners of older Air sedans.

“A leap in digital performance, the next generation Center Console Control Unit brings double the memory, double the storage, and over twice the compute power for a significantly enhanced in-car experience,” Lucid added in the email.

Installation takes between four to five hours.

The model has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance driven by an electric vehicle on a single charge, as reported earlier this week.

The car, the Grand Touring trim of the Lucid Air, drove 1,205.8 kilometers (749.2 miles) in a planned route across Switzerland, Austria, and Germany.

The model has a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 882 kilometers, making it one of the longest-range EVs available in Europe.

Powered by dual electric motors, the Air Grand Touring delivers 611 kW (831 PS) of peak output, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.

The sedan also supports ultra-fast charging, with the ability to add up to 400 kilometers of range in approximately 16 minutes using compatible high-power DC chargers.

Lucid has recently rolled out the highly awaited Android Auto feature to all its Air vehicles in North America.
