Lucid Air “Very Close” to Get Android Auto, Awaits Google Certification

US EV manufacturer Lucid Motors confirmed Tuesday that production of its first SUV, the Lucid Gravity, will commence in late 2024 as orders open next week, on November 7.

However, the first year of production will be limited to the higher-priced Grand Touring variant, priced from $94,900.

Nick Twork, Lucid’s head of communications, shared further details on the timeline via social media, noting that “orders for KSA [Kingdom of Saudi Arabia] and other markets will be announced in the near future.”

In another post, the executive added that Lucid Gravity would feature Android Auto, and Lucid Air is “very close” to integration, currently undergoing Google certification. The system will join the already available Apple CarPlay.

“Lucid Gravity will come with Android Auto. Very close on Lucid Air, it’s going through certification with Google now,” Twork wrote on X after having announced in June that it would be available through an over the air (OTA) update “this fall.”

On Monday, the EV maker said that its 2025 Lucid Air Pure, Touring, Grand Touring, and Sapphire received the maximum five-star scores from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) New Car Assessment Program for 2025.

The model scored a five-star rating on the variants of the Air sedan on overall safety in frontal crash, side crash, and rollover testing.

The entry-level variant of the Lucid Gravity with an anticipated starting price of $79,900, the Lucid Gravity Touring, is set for production in 12-14 months, late next year.

Options pricing and leasing details for Gravity will also be revealed on Nov. 7 when the online configurator goes live, Twork confirmed.

“Pricing for options will be shared on November 7 when the configurator goes live,” Lucid’s exec said before adding in a different tweet that “leasing is planned to be available from the start. Configurator will be live on the 7th.”
