Lucid Motors is adding a second production shift at its Casa Grande, Arizona, plant as the luxury EV maker ramps up output of its second model, the Gravity.
The expansion was confirmed by interim Chief Executive Officer Marc Winterhoff, who said in a LinkedIn post on Monday that the company has “made preparations, including the addition of a second manufacturing shift, to finish 2025 strong.”
Lucid reported 3,891 fully produced vehicles, a 115% YoY increase, adding that built “more than 1,000” additional units that will be shipped to Saudi Arabia for final assembly.
As those vehicles are not fully produced, they were not counted in the 3,891 units reported on late Monday. These vehicles will be included in fourth-quarter figures.
According to a new research note from Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Andres Sheppard and first obtained by PriceTarget, the consensus for the July–September period was at 4,286 EVs delivered and 5,175 vehicles produced.
In early August, Lucid trimmed its 2025 production guidance to a range of 18,000 to 20,000 units, down from its earlier target of 20,000.
Based on first-three-quarter production of 9,966 vehicles, the company must build between 8,034 and 10,034 vehicles in the fourth quarter to reach its revised goal.
To support the ramp-up, Lucid has posted several openings tied to the new shift at its AMP-1 factory.
On October 2, the EV maker began recruiting a Production Team Lead for the 2nd Shift, saying the position will oversee and coordinate a manufacturing team to “ensure the successful execution of manufacturing and assembly of vehicles.”
Another posting for an Andon Tech, 2nd Shift role says the Fastening Team Member will “provide support to daily operations, minimize production downtime, and solve technical issues related with torque systems.”
A separate listing on Indeed advertises a quality-related 2nd-shift position paying from $17 per hour.
Winterhoff praised on Monday the company’s workforce for achieving record output “despite facing supply constraints, including magnet shortages, and other unexpected challenges.”
Lucid’s Casa Grande facility, known internally as AMP-1, produces the Air luxury sedan and began mass production of the Gravity SUV earlier this year.
New drone footage from late September showed more than 2,000 Gravity SUVs parked around its Casa Grande, Arizona, plant, underscoring a production ramp after supply chain disruptions earlier this year nearly halted output.
It remains undisclosed how many of those vehicles were pre-produced for shipment to Lucid’s Saudi Arabia plant and how many were fully built units ready for customer delivery.
The company will report its third quarter earnings results on November 5.
