Earlier this year, Lucid Motors‘ President for the European region Lawrence Hamilton said the company was planning the expansion to top five European markets over the next 18 months.
According to a June interview with Spanish media outlet Marca, these included the UK, France, Italy, and Spain, in addition to Germany, where it is already present.
At the time, the executive attributed their absence in these Southern markets to a “lagging” adoption of electric vehicles.
As first reported by EV a year ago, Belgium was also being considered as an upcoming market.
Confirmed Expansion to 8 Markets
Last September, management confirmed Lucid‘s expansion to eight new European markets next year — tripling its presence in the Old Continent.
“In total, next year our plans are to open in eight additional markets. So, we are rapidly expanding in Europe,” interim CEO Winterhoff said in a Q&A session in Germany attended by EV amid the local debut of the Gravity model.
Denmark is also among the upcoming markets.
The company has begun producing its Gravity SUV for its current European markets, where the Lucid Air is also available.
Currently, the EV maker is present in Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland.
Deliveries of the second model are expected to take place in the first days of 2026.
First Registrations in Spain
According to data published by the platform EU-EVs, which reports daily vehicle registrations across several European markets, Lucid has registered three Air sedans in Spain during November.
The platform distinguishes the units as two Air Pure and one Air Touring. Another Air Pure unit — the entry level trim of the model — was registered within the first four days of December.
As of press time, it is unclear whether the premium brand registered the vehicles as part of its go to market plans or if they were imported from other countries by individual customers.
Before expanding into a new market, vehicle brands typically register the first units to serve as showroom vehicles or as internal fleet.
European Sales
Across its current four markets in Europe, Lucid has been struggling with demand over the past months.
In November, Lucid’s registrations in the Netherlands dropped to zero units, according to data from Dutch industry association BOVAG.
The company sold three vehicles in September and two in October.
Among these, one was a Gravity SUV, likely intended for showroom displays or press purposes, since customer deliveries have not yet begun.
Last month, a unit of the SUV was also registered in Norway.
It was the only vehicle registered in the country in November, which indicates that the Lucid Air has now recorded zero sales in Norway for the third consecutive month.
In Germany, 29 Lucid vehicles were registered, a 28-unit recovery from the one unit sold in October. However, registrations still dropped 75% from a year ago.
As of press time, registration data in Switzerland for the month of November has not yet been published.
