Lucid Motors plans to adopt a dealership network business model in Europe while increasing the number of its showrooms.
Additionally, the company is preparing its next wave of expansion in Europe which includes the expansion to the Belgian market next year, two internal sources told EV on Monday.
In November, the company sold two vehicles in the Swiss market, 116 in Germany, two in the Netherlands, and one in Norway.
The California-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer will participate in the Brussels Motor Show for the first time, scheduled from January 10 to 19, 2025.
The company is expected to announce its expansion to Belgium during the event.
The motor show will feature 63 car brands, including Tesla and BYD but also EV startups like XPeng and Stellantis-backed Leapmotor.
Lucid intends to expand its European lineup next year with the Sapphire variant of its Air sedan, set to launch in the first quarter of 2025. The company also plans to introduce its Gravity SUV in early 2026, with orders opening in mid-2025. A midsized model priced below $50,000 is expected to go into production in late 2026 and arrive in Europe in 2027.
The company will also launch a tour with mobile pop-up stores in early 2025, in addition to expanding its physical showroom network.
Plans in Germany
Chief Operating Officer Stefan Winterhoff said earlier this month that Lucid is planning additional locations in Germany, including new studios in Berlin and Stuttgart.
“We aim to operate between 10 and 12 locations across the country,” Winterhoff said.
Leadership Changes
Earlier this month, Managing Director for Europe Alexander Lutz left after one year in the role, as previously reported by EV.
He was replaced by Lawrence Hamilton, who had been leading Hyundai’s Genesis brand in Europe for more than two years.
