Lucid Motors announced on Wednesday a partnership with global chauffeur service Blacklane to deploy its electric vehicles in Saudi Arabia.
Both the Lucid Air and Gravity models will be integrated into Blacklane’s fleet, as the company expands operations across the Kingdom. Blacklane currently operates in more than 50 countries worldwide.
Lucid’s vehicle lineup will be integrated into Blacklane’s service platform, which lets customers choose limousine, chauffeur or private car services, plus city-to-cide rides.
“Blacklane guests will now have access to the Lucid lineup, including the Lucid Air sedan and the new Lucid Gravity SUV,” as stated by the recently promoted Faisal Sultan, VP and Managing Director of Lucid Middle East.
While the Air sedan will be “immediately” available, the Gravity SUV is expected to be added “later this year” as the company ramps up production of the model.
In early May, Lucid shipped a new batch of SUVs to be assembled at its plant in Saudi Arabia.
The partnership with Lucid will support Blacklane on doubling operations in the Middle East by the end of 2025, including cities like Riyadh and Jeddah.
The two companies will also work together to support the rollout of EV charging infrastructure in the region. The Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Company intends to build 5,000 fast chargers across the kingdom by 2030.
Saudi Arabia aims for 30% of all new vehicles in the country to be fully electric by 2030. In the oil capital, electric vehicles represented 1% of the automobile market share in 2024.
Over 60% of Lucid is owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which has been investing in the U.S. EV maker since 2018, three years before it went public.
Earlier on Wednesday, Lucid Motors announced it has signed a third agreement to “further strengthen” its supply of U.S.-sourced raw materials in upcoming models.
The multi-year deal is Lucid’s second agreement with Graphite One, following a 2024 deal for synthetic graphite, and comes after a separate supply agreement with Syrah Resources.
On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs initiated procurement tenders to ship Lucid electric vehicles to its embassies and consulates across Asia, South America, Africa and Europe.
Countries include Türkiye, Jordan, Hungary, Brazil, Egypt, the Philippines, Tunisia, and Bangladesh — as initially shared by X user ‘LucidOasis.’
Lucid Motors is expanding in the Gulf region and in Europe later this year, according to interim CEO Marc Winterhoff.
