The global chauffeur service Blacklane has begun integrating Lucid Motors’ debut model into its Saudi fleet, following a partnership announced in early June.
The first Lucid Air sedans were recently deployed in Riyadh, as the company accelerates efforts to electrify its operations in the Kingdom.
Images released this week showed Lucid Air vehicles branded with Blacklane’s livery at the company’s regional hub in the Saudi capital.
The Gravity SUV, Lucid’s second model, is expected to be added to the fleet later this year as production scales up.
As reported earlier this week by EV, a recent drone flyover of Lucid Motors’ Casa Grande facility in Arizona indicates a ramp-up in Gravity SUV production, with roughly 600 vehicles spotted across multiple parking areas.
Blacklane said this week it is “joining forces” with the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Company (EVIQ) to expand EV charging access across Saudi Arabia.
The two companies plan to identify key locations for fast-charging stations, including dedicated fleet hubs. One such station is slated for Blacklane’s new Gulf headquarters in Riyadh.
EVIQ is overseeing the rollout of the Kingdom’s first nationwide rapid-charging network, targeting 5,000 fast chargers by 2030.
Saudi Arabia aims for 30% of new vehicles sold to be fully electric by that year. As of 2024, EVs accounted for just 1% of the vehicle market in Riyadh, according to official estimates.
The initiative is backed by TASARU Mobility Investments, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which holds a majority stake of more than 60% in Lucid Motors.
Blacklane’s expansion in the Kingdom is part of a broader plan to double its Middle East operations by the end of 2025, including in Riyadh and Jeddah.
Faisal Sultan, Vice President and Managing Director of Lucid Middle East, said in early June that the Gravity would be introduced later this year.
In May, the company shipped a new batch of Gravity SUVs to Saudi Arabia for final assembly.
Separately, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently issued procurement tenders to supply Lucid EVs to embassies and consulates across Asia, Africa, South America, and Europe.
Target countries include Türkiye, Jordan, Brazil, Egypt, the Philippines, Hungary, Tunisia, and Bangladesh, according to public tender documents shared on social media.
