Li i8 Interior Leaks Online as Li Auto Prepares to Challenge Onvo L90

Beijing-based EV maker Li Auto has seen the interior of its upcoming six-seater Li i8 SUV leaked online, with pictures offering a full view of the vehicle’s cabin just two weeks before its official launch.

The four photos, which circulated on Chinese social media on Sunday, show the front cockpit with a wide central display, a second row equipped with a central entertainment screen, and the rear luggage area of the three-row electric SUV.

The images also reveal white leather seats, ambient lighting, and electronically adjustable seating.

In response to the leak, Li Auto Vice President Liu Jie published on Weibo official teaser images — though these were limited to the front passenger area and did not match the detail seen in the unofficial photos.

The Li i8 is set to become Li Auto’s first fully electric SUV and second battery-electric model after the Mega MPV. The company has announced that pre-orders will open on July 17, with the full unveiling expected at the end of the month.

The six-seater model will compete with the recently unveiled L90 SUV, the second model from Nio Group‘s sub-brand Onvo, a three-row electric SUV priced from 279,900 yuan ($39,000).

Onvo said last week it will also host the launch event at the end of the month. However, a precise date was not revealed.

Li Auto will begin shipping demo vehicles to showrooms on July 18, ahead of the official launch event — scheduled for July 29.

The i8 is 5,085 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,740 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3050 mm.

Unveiled earlier this year at the Shanghai Auto Show, Onvo‘s second model is slightly bigger, measuring 5,145 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and up to 1,786 mm in height, with a 3,110 mm wheelbase.

While pricing details for the Li i8 are yet unknown, the L90 has a pre-sale price of 279,900 yuan ($39,000) when acquiring it with the battery and 193,900 yuan ($27,000) when choosing Nio’s battery-as-a-service (BaaS).

The Li i8 comes standard with a dual-motor intelligent all-wheel-drive (AWD) system across all variants, with a maximum output of 150 kW and 250 kW for the front and rear motors and a total system output of 400 kW.

Available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel drive options, the L90 adopts a 900V electrical architecture offers two powertrain options: a single 340 kW motor or a dual-motor setup with 100 kW and 340 kW motors (a total 440 kW).

Li Auto‘s SUV reaches a top speed of 180 km/h, while the Onvo model reaches 200 km/h.

While the Li i8 is equipped with 5C battery packs, available in 90 kWh and 98 kWh capacities, the L90 uses a 85 kWh battery pack, the same as the long-range variant of Onvo‘s debut model L60.

According to Nio‘s website, the six-seat version of the L90 delivers a range of up to 605 km on the CLTC cycle.

Li Auto offers CLTC-rated ranges of 670 km and 720 km, depending on the battery pack. The battery supports ultra-fast charging, delivering 500 km of range in just 10 minutes.

The model’s launch event will be held in Beijing, according to a series of Weibo posts by founder and CEO Li Xiang over the weekend.

Li Auto will launch the Li i6, a five-seat fully electric SUV, in September.

This aligns with Onvo‘s plans to unveil its five-seater SUV in the fourth quarter.

The model, which will be named L80, will be a smaller L90 with a two row configuration — as revealed in a recent catalogue by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
