Kia Teases New Entry Level Electric Model EV2 Ahead of January 9 Debut

South Korean carmaker Kia provided a first glimpse on Wednesday of its new EV2 model, ahead of the official debut scheduled for the Brussels Motor Show later this week.

The announcement was made via the brand’s official UK Instagram account, with three new teasers of the model.

The new fully electric B-segment SUV will be Kia‘s smallest and most affordable fully electric model. The unveiling event is scheduled for January 9 at 10:40 AM local time.

Apart from the EV2’s launch, the firm will also exhibit the new GT versions of the EV3, the EV4 Hatchback, and the EV5.

EV2 Reveal and Features

Kia revealed the Concept EV2 during the brand’s 2025 EV Day event, held nearly a year ago.

Since then, the vehicle has been spotted roadtesting several times in Europe and South Korea.

In early December, the brand’s President for the European region Marc Hedrich emphasized that with the new B-segment SUV, Kia reaffirms its “commitment to make electric mobility truly accessible to a broader audience — without compromise.”

The EV2 is set to become the automaker’s smallest and most affordable EV to date and “designed, developed, and soon to be produced in Europe”, according to the executive.

Following its debut at the Brussels Motor Show, the company will start building the EV2 at its Slovakian facility in Žilina, gradually increasing production throughout the year.

Similarly to Kia‘s larger electric SUVs — such as the EV5 and EV9 models —, EV2 will feature a more compact design, but at a more affordable price.

As the EV3 prices is currently available from approximately €36,000 ($42,000) in Europe, the new SUV should start at roughly €30,000 ($35,000).

However, more concrete details of the EV2 model will be disclosed at its launch event on January 9.

Kia’s 2025 Performance

Kia achieved a new global record in 2025, with more than 3.13 million vehicles sold.

Figures rose by 2% compared to the previous year.

Specifically in the UK market, Kia reached 113,436 registrations last year, becoming the fourth best-selling brand, with a market share of 5.6%.

The Sportage model is still the firm’s top seller, with 569,688 units sold globally.

The Seltos SUV comes next with 299,766 vehicles, while the Sorento variant follows closely with 264,673 units.

Throughout 2025, the company launched a total of nine new models on a global scale, including the EV4 and the PV5 — the first dedicated electric light commercial EV.

Kia has set a global sales target of 3.35 million vehicles for 2026, with 2.775 million units expected to be sold overseas and 565,000 in its home market of Korea.
