Zeekr, a subsidiary of Geely Auto Holding Group, plans to open showrooms in Seoul and the surrounding Gyeonggi province by the end of 2025, with deliveries beginning in the first quarter of 2026.
Last month, the company reached a new record with more than 20,000 vehicles delivered.
According to a Bloomberg report, the first model will be the Zeekr 001, a five-seater, crossover shooting brake. However, Zeekr has not yet finalized all details.
Currently, the European Union is imposing tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, prompting Chinese EV brands to seek growth in other markets, especially in Asia.
Another Chinese brand, BYD, is also preparing to launch cars in South Korea. In addition to cars, Chinese-made electric buses account for 40% of the electric buses already in operation in South Korea.
In 2022, Geely acquired a 34% stake in Renault Korea. These two car companies have deepened their cooperation in developing “eco-friendly models.” Additionally, the electric SUV Polestar 4, produced by Geely-owned Volvo, will be manufactured at Renault Korea’s Busan plant in the second half of 2025.
Last week at Geely Auto’s Q1 earnings conference, Zeekr CEO An Conghui stated that the next step will involve adopting a direct sales and dealer layout in Europe.
Zeekr is also actively advancing the process of localized production in Europe and will disclose relevant information at an appropriate time. Now, Zeekr’s international presence continues to expand.
The company plans to introduce the MPV Zeekr MIX and a mid-to-large SUV in August and September this year. Additionally, three all-new models are scheduled for launch in 2025.
Two weeks ago, the company entered the Mexican market as part of its global expansion strategy. On Monday, the brand celebrated the arrival of its first batch of vehicles in Mexico.
