Polestar US Sales Surge 83% Year Over Year in June to 581 Units

Geely-backed brand Polestar sold 581 electric vehicles in the United States last month, according to Motor Intelligence estimates.

Sales surged 82.7% from a year ago, when the brand had sold 318 units.

June marked the third-best month of 2025. However, the figures showed a 7.5% decline from the 628 vehicles recorded in May.

Together with the 460 vehicles sold in April, sales from the second quarter reached 1,669 units, slightly up by 3.6% from the 1,611 vehicles sold in the first three months of the year.

Compared to the same period a year ago, when Polestar sold 1,145 electric vehicles, quarterly sales rose 45.8%.

According to Motor Intelligence, which separates “cars” from “trucks,” Polestar sold 41 Polestar 2 sedans and 540 Polestar 3 SUVs.

Earlier this year, the brand removed the option to configure a Polestar 2 from its U.S. website, as uncertainty grew around auto tariffs announced by Donald Trump.

As of the time of writing, only an option to buy pre-owned units of the sedan remains available, as remaining inventory units have sold out.

The EV maker is offering a $1,000 Conquest Bonus for customers trading Tesla vehicles for a Polestar 2 up until July 31.

Prices for the Polestar 3 were cut by $10,000, currently starting at $57,500. Qualified customers can enjoy 0% interest financing for up to 72 months, also through July 31.

The company led by Michael Lohscheller began deliveries of the Polestar 3 model in the US and Canada last October.

The brand unveiled the Polestar 4 SUV in late 2023, with deliveries starting in Europe in the third quarter of 2024. Despite having opened orders in the U.S. in April 2024, the brand never delivered the model in the country.

Early last month, the Gothenburg-headquartered brand opened orders for the 2026 Polestar 4 in the United States, with a starting price of $56,400.

Reservation holders for the previous iteration will get the 2026 iteration with the original price protected. Deliveries are planned to begin this fall.

Tesla registered 45,628 electric vehicles in the United States last month, a decline of 15.8% year over year. Year to date, registrations have declined year over year every month.

The premium EV maker Lucid Motors sold 840 vehicles in June — up 24.6% year over year.

Irvine-based Rivian registered 3,496 units, a decline of 27.6% from June 2024. The EV maker is opening orders for its cheaper R2 SUV — set to be priced around $45,000 — in early 2026.

Global Sales

The EV maker registered 1,010 vehicles in the Swedish market last month, the highest sales figures ever.

In Norway, where EVs represented 96.9% of total vehicle sales in June, Polestar sold 727 units, according to data from Elbilstatistikk. Registrations more than doubled from the 387 vehicles sold a year before.

Polestar announced on Wednesday that its charging network, which was launched in March 2024, has surpassed 1 million charging stations across Europe thanks to the ramp-up of its partners.

According to the brand, the network is available “throughout the UK and mainland Europe” and “includes a mix of large international operators such as IONITY, Recharge, Total, Fastned, Tesla Super Chargers and Allego.”

Late last month, Polestar revealed during a presentation at the J.P. Morgan European Automotive Conference that the Polestar 7, its sixth model, is set to start production in Europe and to be launched in 2027.

Having (re)launched recently in France, the brand plans to grow its European retail footprint to more than 180 locations by 2027.
