Polestar UK Sales Flat Year on Year in July, Down 68% From June Record

Geely-backed brand Polestar sold 820 vehicles in the UK last month, just four additional units than the 816 EVs registered a year ago.

According to data revealed by the SMMT on Tuesday, registrations fell by 68.4% sequentially, after setting a new record in June with 2,595 vehicles sold.

As also seen in figures from the previous months, registrations slowed down in the beginning of a new quarter. July was Polestar’s weakest month since February.

Registrations last month were 4.5% lower than in April, the first month of the second quarter. However, they were 9.9% higher when compared to January.

In Sweden, where it is headquartered, Polestar sold 538 vehicles in July, down 46.7% from the record 1,010 units registered in June, but up 42.7% year over year.

Its most expensive model, the Polestar 3 SUV, starts from £67,910, equivalent to $91,400.

The brand also set 0% APR financing for customers purchasing inventory units between July 1 and September 30.

In a total of 140,154 vehicles sold last month in the UK, 29,825 were battery electric vehicles. EV adoption in the country grew by 9.1% in July, with fully electric vehicles representing 21.3% of the market.
