Polestar Sets New Sales Record in the Netherlands with 434 Vehicles

Polestar recorded its best sales month ever in the Netherlands with 434 vehicles registered in June, according to data released on Wednesday by the national association BOVAG.

Registrations were up 53.9% year over year, rising from 282 units, and more than tripled from May’s total of 134.

In the first half of the year, the Geely-backed brand registered 1,177 vehicles in the Dutch market, an increase of 24.2% year over year.

The Polestar 2 represented the majority of sales in June, with 256 units registered —69.5% of all vehicles sold by the brand. This means that for every three vehicles sold, about two were the sedan.

Prices for the sedan start from €44,950 ($52,700) in the Dutch market.

Regarding its SUV lineup, the brand registered 159 units of its coupe Polestar 4, which starts at €59,800 ($70,100).

The most expensive model in its lineup, the Polestar 3, with prices beginning at €79,950 ($93,700), represented 19 of the total vehicles sold.

In the first half of 2025, 182,680 vehicles were sold in the Netherlands, of which 63,877 were fully electric. EV sales rose 6% compared to the same period last year.

In the January-June period, EVs represented 35% of the market share in the country — one in each three vehicles.

In June, Renault outperformed Kia as the best-selling brand across all powertrains in the Dutch market. The French brand registered 3,024 units last month — of which 424 were Renault 5 vehicles — while Hyundai Group’s brand sold 3,005 vehicles.

Tesla’s refreshed Model Y was the best-selling vehicle in the country in June, with 1,250 units registered. The Model 3 sedan ranked third, accounting for 749 of the total vehicles sold.

The U.S. EV maker’s registrations dropped 41.8% year over year to 2,002 units. However, sales nearly doubled from the 1,057 units registered in May.

Regarding Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) brands, BYD led with 412 fully electric and hybrid vehicles, a surge of 83.9% from a year ago and up 30% from May.

XPeng‘s sales tumbled to 67 units last month in the Netherlands. Figures fell 31.6% year over year and 41.2% month over month.

Premium EV brand Zeekr, also backed by Geely, registered 150 vehicles in June — 5 units below May’s figures, but more than doubling from the 68 vehicles sold a year ago.

Nio‘s sales in the Dutch market fell to 7 units, half of what it sold in June 2024. Registrations rose by 2 units sequentially.

Global Sales

In Sweden, where the company is headquartered, Polestar set a new sales record with 1,010 vehicles sold last month.

In Norway, where EVs represented 96.9% of total vehicle sales in June, Polestar sold 727 units, according to data from Elbilstatistikk. Registrations more than doubled from the 387 vehicles sold a year before.

Polestar announced on Wednesday that its charging network, which was launched in March 2024, has surpassed 1 million charging stations across Europe thanks to the ramp-up of its partners.

On the other side of the Atlantic, Polestar sales in the U.S. surged 82.7% year over year to 581 vehicles. June was the brand’s third-best month of 2025 in the American market.
