Polestar Sales Hit New Record in Sweden With Over 1,000 EVs

Geely-backed Polestar set a new sales record in Sweden with 1,010 fully electric vehicles sold last month, according to data shared by Mobility Sweden this Tuesday.

This marks the highest sales figures for the Gothenburg-based brand since the launch of its first model, the Polestar 2, in early 2020.

Registrations were up by 1.2% from the same period a year ago, when Polestar registered 994 units.

Compared to May — the previous 2025 record with 612 units — sales jumped 64.8%.

The Polestar 4 represented 669 out of the 1,010 (or 51%) vehicles sold last month.

The coupe’s prices currently start at a discounted price of 692,000 SEK ($72,700), down by 8,000 SEK. A trim named ‘Business Edition’ is also available, starting at the same base price.

The Polestar 2 sedan is available from 579,000 SEK ($60,900) on the company’s Swedish website, priced 20,000 SEK below its original price. In June, Polestar sold 225 units of the model.

The brand sold 105 units of its most expensive model, the Polestar 3 SUV. Prices begin at 890,000 SEK, which is equivalent to $93,600.

Polestar recently launched orders in France, marking its 28th market globally. The brand will sell directly online and via Volvo Cars’ retail network, giving customers access to more than 100 service points nationwide.

The brand plans to grow its European retail footprint to more than 180 locations by 2027.

Late last month, Polestar revealed during a presentation at the J.P. Morgan European Automotive Conference that the Polestar 7, its sixth model, is set to start production in Europe and to be launched in 2027.

In June, 27,565 vehicles were sold in Sweden. Battery electric vehicles accounted for 10,725 units, representing 39.0% of the market. Their share is up 17.6% from a year ago.

Polestar ranked as the tenth best-selling brand in Sweden. Regarding pure EV makers, it remained above Tesla, which sold 976 units — a 64.4% plunge year over year.

BYD, which sells both hybrid and fully electric vehicles, sold 206 units last month — more than doubling from the 76 units it had registered in May.

Premium brand Zeekr, sold 155 vehicles in June, up 36 units from May.

Its competitor Nio saw registrations fall to 1 unit in the market last month — the lowest in two and a half years.

XPeng registered 72 vehicles in the Swedish market. Sales rose 157.1% year over year, but tumbled 32.1% from May, when the Guangzhou-based brand sold 106 units.
