Polestar Replaces Chief Commercial Officer, Promotes Global Sales Director

EV maker Polestar has replaced its chief commercial officer Kristian Elvefors, with the global sales director Scott Dicken taking the role, the executive announced on LinkedIn this Wednesday.

After serving as global sales director since September, the former Jaguar Land Rover sales director, will join Polestar‘s executive committee in his new role.

He succeeds Elvefors, who leaves the Geely-backed brand after two years.

“As I step into this role, my focus will be on continuing to strengthen our commercial execution globally — working closely with our markets, retailers, and partners to drive sustainable growth and deliver brand defining experiences for our customers,” Dicken wrote on LinkedIn.

CEO Michael Lohscheller commented on the post, saying the newly appointed CCO “played a key role in establishing and leading Polestar‘s European business, taking the region from a start-up phase to a strong, established operation.”

The Old Continent is — by far — the strongest region for the premium EV brand.

“Europe is the heartbeat of Polestar — not only our home region, but also the core of our business, accounting for around 77% of our global sales. Now let’s continue to grow, that’s key for us as a young brand,” Lohscheller wrote.

Career Background

Dicken has been with Polestar for nearly five years, joining in March 2021 as European commercial operations director.

He was promoted to global sales director in September 2025, a position he held for five months before his elevation to the C-suite.

Before Polestar, Dicken spent more than a decade at Jaguar Land Rover in progressively senior roles.

He served as sales director for the UK from May 2018 to March 2021, general manager of global demand creation from December 2014 to December 2015, and global Range Rover brand director from July 2011 to December 2014.

Earlier in his career, Dicken held positions in China, serving as vice president of marketing for Land Rover from March 2010 to June 2011 and general manager for Land Rover from July 2008 to March 2010, both based in Shanghai.

Sales Performance

The promotion comes as Polestar posted its strongest sales performance since the Volvo Car spinoff began delivering vehicles.

Polestar sold 60,119 vehicles globally in 2025, a 34% increase from 2024. Fourth-quarter retail sales totaled approximately 15,608 units, up 27% year over year.

Europe accounted for the majority of deliveries, with approximately 46,479 vehicles registered across the region in 2025, according to data compiled by EV based on national registration agencies and the EU-EVs data platform.

The figures represent a 55.7% jump from 2024, when 29,855 units were registered.

The United Kingdom remains Polestar‘s strongest market, with registrations roughly doubling year over year.

In December, the brand registered 5,785 vehicles across 14 of its 15 European markets. Registration data for Italy had not yet been disclosed as of press time.

Cláudio Afonso founded CARBA in early 2021 and launched the news blog EV later that year. Following a 1.5-year hiatus, he relaunched EV in April 2024. In late 2024, he also started AV, a blog dedicated to the autonomous vehicle industry.
