Polestar Records Best Netherlands Sales Month in Three Years in December

Polestar sales in the Dutch market have reached 450 vehicles in December, marking the EV maker’s best result in three years and a 71.1% jump compared to December 2024.

The figures represent a new record since the last month of 2022, when the Geely-backed brand registered 556 vehicles in the country.

Polestar averaged around 150 units monthly in the first five months of the year before jumping to 434 vehicles in June — the brand’s second-best result of 2025.

Sales then fell below 400 units and only surpassed that level again in December.

September, the final month of the third quarter, was the third-best month of the year with 348 vehicles sold.

The pattern is typical across the auto industry, where the last month of each quarter tends to produce the strongest sales due to logistics timing, vehicle transport schedules, and quarter-end incentives offered by manufacturers.

Lineup

Of the total 450 vehicles registered, the Polestar 2 accounted for 189 units. The best-selling model from the brand in 2025 is priced from €44,950 ($52,760) in the Dutch market.

Regarding its SUV lineup, the brand registered 235 units of its coupe Polestar 4, which starts at €59,800 ($70,200).

The most expensive model in its lineup, the Polestar 3, with prices beginning at €80,450 ($94,300), represented the remaining 25 units.

Deliveries of the new iteration of the model are expected to begin in May-June 2026, according to its website.

Orders placed for the Polestar 2, as of January 2, are also expected to be delivered from April.

The Polestar 4 SUV, on the other hand, has deliveries scheduled for February.

The brand currently features inventory units for the three models in its inventory page, from both 2025 and 2026 iterations, with an estimated delivery waiting time of about 4 weeks.

Production

The only model currently being produced outside of China is the Polestar 3, which is built in Volvo’s US plant in South Carolina.

The company is expected to begin production of the Polestar 4 in Busan, South Korea, in a partnership with European carmaker Renault.

It will primarily serve North American markets, with deliveries expected to begin in the second half of 2025.

While Polestar has not provided any recent updates on the matter, Renault Korea reported in early December that approximately 300 Polestar 4s were exported by the Busan plant to Canada in November.

European Sales

Polestar, which has been struggling with demand across the globe, saw its sales rise in both Norway and Sweden as 2025 came to a close.

In Sweden, where it is headquartered, the EV maker sold 998 vehicles, of which 828 were its Polestar 4 SUV.

The model ranked above Volkswagen’s ID.7 and Tesla’s Model Y, placing just below the top-seller Volvo EX40.

Reacting to the news, Polestar‘s CEO Michael Lohscheller wrote in a LinkedIn comment that the company has “very strong momentum in our home market Sweden.”

“Looking forward to report on our global numbers in January,” the chief executive added.

December figures were the third-best in 2025, as the Polestar sold over 1,000 vehicles in both June and September.

In Norway, the brand sold 766 vehicles in December, just slightly below its best month of the year, June.

Compared to last year, when 162 units had been registered, sales in December nearly quintupled.
